Dirk Skene
I have a 3 hose, self-sealing, Syrian style hookah. 2 of the hoses have always worked fine. 1 (always the same one) is like sucking on a rock. I have changed the adapter. I have changed the ball bearing. I have changed the hose. NOTHING works I can take out the ball bearing & it will smoke fine, but if I am sharing I must hold my finger over the mouthpiece or everybody else gets a large air mix & very little smoke. Any ideas in fixing the problem? Or do I just need to get used to it?
Stuie
replace the ball bearing with plastic air pellets, or put a little vegetable or olive oil on the bearing so it won't stick. You might also want to lower your water level, just based on what you said your bearings my be rusting or pitting because of sitting water in your hose port. mushrat
Check the hole that leads to that port from the underside of the stem. Sometimes a sloppy weld or cut can leave a layer of metal partially blocking the hole so the draw is restricted. I have seen this before and just used a nail to fully open the hole...Or just learn to thumb your hose. I'm not a fan of most autosealed hookahs anyways. Dirk Skene
Stuie, Mushrat, Thanks guys. I will try your ideas. If "push comes to shove" as we say here in the south, I'll just use my thumb. I'll be smokin' tonight when I get home so I'll work on it then.
