So, we have two story dorms. One night, last Thursday, someone decides to smoke in their second story room and left the coals by the window. Apparently the pipe had a lean and the coals rolled off into the brush underneath their window setting fire to it. Result? 400 kids woken up at 3:00am thinking popcorn was burned when in reality, 6 rooms were on fire. Well four were but the hose from the fire trucks were so strong they broke the windows of two rooms destroying everything inside.

Hookahs are already banned from the dorms but this dumbass leaves more reason for the administration to hate hookah. When will learn not to be stupid?

Isn't it common sense to extinguish the coals immediately after smoking?

You'd think so... But common sense doesn't seem to be that common.

When I was in the military I was amazed at how many people managed to burn things (clothes, ironing boards and carpets) from leaving the iron face down and just walking away.

Actually, this reminds me, I just got done smoking in someone's dorm and when I went to leave I mentioned I needed to throw away some ash, etc. I specifically said "watch out, there's a little piece of hot coal." -"No problem." Next day: "Dude! My trash can caught on fire!" rolleyes.gif

“I was fucking smoking hookah in our room and we went to bed an hour before it happened,” Goodwin said. “We put the ashes [from the hookah] on the windowsill. … We’ve done it before. Everything seemed fine and forty minutes later, we woke up to smoke.”

What a dumbass. Why would you put coal ashes in anything but an ashtray?

On another note, I think my parents lived in Santa Rosa hall... I know they went to UCSB, but I can't remember for sure which dorm they were in.

Now see, for me, coals go one of three places. On the bowl, on my coal tray, or on my custom steel coal caddy. All my ash gets flushed regardless of the chance of hot coal flakes still being inside.

I go to SSU and they hate hookah with a passion. I had my hookah up there, and while i was a party off campus the cops camer and search my entire suite, finding my hookah, tobacco, coals, and propane torch, seizing everything and me getting kicked out of housing because i claimed it to get it all back. FUCK THE COLLEGE RESIDENTIAL SYSTEM.

A Thought strikes me. If it's technically against the school's housing policy.... why do it? Surely a stress free education is fair more important than smoking hookah?

LOL JD its been awhile since you've been in school eh? nowdays a stress free education isnt even attainable without a hookah lol....

No injuries, the fire alarm system went off quickly and people cleared out quickly. I don't smoke in the dorms but some people do that are just idiots.

I do four things here at my school, hookah, drink, have sex, and study.

I would think that just leaving your hookah in your car would be best in a dorm situation. Keep your shisha inside so that if they give you shit you can just tell them its for fragrance. The dorms/lofts at CSUS they allow smoking on the porches or balconies. I dont live there but all the people who represent the dorms who I talked to say they allow it.
