Should I Get A Psp?

Recommended Posts

ehhh. I hate hand held systems so i am a bit bias, but judging from how often my friends play i would say no. Unless you got the cash to just spend i woundt waste the money.

A new Hot Shots Golf just came out for the PSP... I would get it just for this, but don't have that kind of cash.

I was going to buy one for a 13hour plane trip and I still wanted one after I got back but then I decided that I wouldn't have played it other than the plane so I'm glad I didn't get it. Unless you spend a lot of time traveling or away from home I wouldn't waste the money. Just buy a new hookah wink.gif

well I had to go on about 3 planes just to get to Japan of course they had inflight movies and I had my ipod. But if you think you're going to have some free time or time to kill just chillin by yourself I would highly recommend a PSP....keep the receipt for when you get back wink.gif

shit, dude, 3 planes to get to japan? anytime i've ever gone to japan, my parents have hooked it up with the one way - 13-14 hour flight. yeah, inflight movies are legit, but theres always like 7 selections 1 of which is good and the other i just watch for kicks. the inflight games keep you occupied, but at the end of the day, i just ask "why?". because those games f-ing SUCK.

we'll see how i feel in a week or 2 when i leave - i need to think about this more.

also, i got DMC4 - its amazing, but its seriously way to short. got it around 3 pm est today, played it, took time off for dinner/coffee run/711 and took time off for drinking, and im already on mission 12/20....

Lol that was with a one way plane. BUT I had to take a 2 hour flight from NC to Chicago to hop that flight. Then a 13 hour flight over there to tokyo then a 2 hour flight to hiroshima. So tech only two planes to get to Japan but 3 to get to my destination.

So I think I totalled 30-40 traveling hours each way.

But the time change always messes with me. Not jet lag wise (actually didn't have any when I got there)
But the fact that I jumped like 36 hours into the future on the way there and was in daylight the whole time.
Then the fact that when I got back to NC it was tech. only 3 hours after I left Japan.

The way I feel about it is if you have the cash, grab a PSP to use on the plane, but if it's going to stretch you, don't do it, you can entertain yourself without it and spend the money you were going to spend on it wherever you go.
Inflight movies, laptop, camera, ipod. Plus if you get one of the airlines that has wifi on the plane that would be awesome.

On my way back last time I didn't get up the entire 13 hour flight, my knees were not happy with me lol. But I had actually forgotten about the whole "deep muscle thrombosis" you can get where a clot forms and you die. Just glad that didn't happen.

So yeah, walk around wink.gif

the only games i can consider getting ar Final Fantasy Crisis Core, God of War, Star Wars Battlefront, and GTA.

is it worth it?

oh and tekken

and MGS

add Patapon, Monster Hunter 2, and Castlevania to that list. I bought mine from a friend for like $80 and it was more than worth it. Granted, I take the train to school, and it keeps me entertained between classes when I don't feel like reading. Edited by Ralleac

if you mod the psp with a mod battery, which are dirt cheap and easy to use, you can mod the system and download games off the internet, a friend of mine has a library of nearly 200 psp games on the machine. It's amazing.

also, I'm a cheap bastard so I use ebay to buy all my games for my xbox 360, psp's on ebay go for dramatically cheaper that store price, and you can get them new or slightly used at a fraction of the cost. Up to you, I've been an ebayer for a good 6 years now and have never gotten burned by it. You just have to keep your eyes open. Edited by fifthmanstanding

I personally hate how ebay upped their prices (listing, etc) but as a buyer it's a great place. You can also check craigslist and amazon.

I modded my PSP with custom firmware and I have SNES emulators, SEGA Genesis emulators, and PS1 emulators on it. I haven't played an actual PSP game on it for a year because they're so lame. I just use the emulators. Like right now I'm addicted to Gran Turismo 2. biggrin.gif
