NUBBS
Two of my best friends are gay [lesbians] and I dont really think anything about it. I didnt know at first then, they told me and I love them even more now. Im always over at they're house and they have lots of gay friends, Ive never felt uncompfortable. I found out the other day that since Cali legalized gay marriage they're gonna get hitched. I love how open and understanding the gay community is. liquidglass
Well first off I'll start off saying, this is a great thread man, it's interesting and not all about hookah (even though I could go for the free shisha ). Plus it's great that the thread is in a place where most/if not everyone has to be open minded to do something that can have bad associations with it, so you won't flamed (edit: no pun intended) or anything. I will disagree with you that being gay isn't a choice. Everyone goes though stages in their life where they are curious about the same sex and the opposite sex. Some people think about it and that's it, some people experiment and never do anything again, and so on. But I believe that it's the result of unconcious descisions detailing what you like in other people. Then if you find you like qualities of the same sex more than the opposite sex, then it's just a choice based on tons of chocies (dealing with what you like in people). But because people believe that you're born "hard wired" to like/and dislike things about people then it could lead to the conclusion that being homosexual isn't a choice. Not to say I'm 100% right or anything, just the conclusion I've come to over time, which I'm sure yours is the same. Although I will say that I despise it when people (just in general) hide behind the "homosexuality isn't a choice" simply because they don't want to admit they might do something that isn't as socially acceptable as hetrosexuality. But I despise anytime someone hides behind someone elses reasoning because they can't justify/think for themselves.Awesome that you're so laid back about it, that's the way I think it should be for anything, be like yeah I'm gay, no biggie. Rather than all up in someone's face with rainbow stickers and purposfully dressing stereotypically....that's just trying too hard. I do have one question. Have you ever hit on a guy only to find out he's straight? And get rejected. I've been hit on by a few guys and while I appreciated the compliment I had to turn them down lol. Dr. Atkins
QUOTE (chromecarz00 @ Jun 5 2008, 11:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>If you, as a gay, can get a boner from a lap dance from a woman, thats for the most part an involuntary reaction triggered by your biological senses. This, in itself, would prove that homosexuality is not a gene, but a life choice. He is not concsiously fighting his biological urge therefore it shows itself. His preference, however, is indeed his choice which he also displays. Just thought I would point that out.Sorry, but that doesn't amount to any sort of proof, one way or another. Much evidence exists for both a biological and an environmental basis to sexuality; in other words, nature and nurture both play a significant, though not always equal role. It's like a dumbass with a popped collar going around talking about how many girls he's had sex with as often as possible. He's not proud, he's insecure. As far as the "proudness" thing there was actually a Heterosexual Pride parade near me a few years back. I thought it was a great idea, especailly because most of the people from the organization that put together and participate in the Gay Pride Parade supported it and enjoyed hanging out there. (personally I just enjoyed the stickers 'Flaming Heterosexual' ) But of course there were plenty of people that thought it was a disrespectful idea. Not suprisingly, it was only straight people, becuase many of them are more close minded than they like to admit. Kind of like someone that's racist that has a black friend so they don't feel racist. I can't say I've ever really hit on a straight person before. I'm not really somebody that goes out and LOOKS for relationships, they've always sorta come to me ...So i just wait to get hit on, then go from there, a lot safer that way cause no straighty will be hittin on guys. You see a cute guy in class or whatever, and risk getting punched in the face if you show any interest. A lot of people resort to meeting others online or at gay clubs. This has always been sorta sketchy to me. I'll hang out at the club, sure.. hell I used to bartend there until I got pissed off getting hit on by older guys all night. But I don't expect to find any relationships there. That 'scene' is a very, very promiscuous scene. Nothing wrong with it (besides the obvious health risks with unprotected sex) but its not my thing. MeHT
I have around 10 close friends, about 50 or so I hang out with quite a lot and about 200 acquaintances and I don't know a single person that is openly gay (though I have my suspicions ). Some people actually thought I'm gay (you dress gay, you act gay, blah blah blah, but mostly they were pulling my chain), though I'm not. I've known a gay friend of a friend for a while when I was living in Canada, though. Maybe it has something to do with the local culture? Although I must say, my ex girlfriend tends to show some strong lesbian tendencies... And girls making out with each other is not uncommon at parties here. Everyone seems okay with that, even their boyfriends. What the situation with public signs of gay affection over there?
nicayotte
What I don't understand is why certain homosexual human beings(your not just people your humans like me and everyone else ) feel the need to show their homosexuality very blant, and in your face. Personally this annoys me due to the fact they want to be considered equal but at the same time act different from everyone else.PS: I in no way shape or form have any hate towards homosexuals or their life style i was just wondering... MeHT
[imho]Perhaps it's a social interpretation of a Newton's law: for every action there's a reaction. The more someone is suppressed, the more urge there is to 'fight back', usually. There's a difference between being themselves and being "in your face". The latter stems out of personal insecurities, usually imposed by the society. As the society exerts its pressure towards a social group, the group responds accordingly; and I'm talking about minorities in general. I said before I didn't agree with it, etc etc. But I do believe that God loves everyone, regardless of anything. But something you'd probably enjoy. one of my best friends here at my University (he's graduated now) was gay....and a religion major. At a big southern baptist private college no less. I really enjoyed it because he wasn't in everyone's face about it and he was one of the most laid back guys I knew (even if he thought I was cute lol) And he had the ability to do something completely against what would normally be expected and at no time did he act like a hero, special, etc he was like, hey it's what I want to do, so I'm going to do it.What part of Maryland are you in though?
