Quick Light Coals + Herbal Shisha?

Recommended Posts

A buddy of mine just got a new Hookah, his first one, its about 28" tall, and he got two 50gram packs of this herbal shisha with it as well as 10 quick light coals. I had never tried either, but gave it a go with him. We seshed pretty hard for over 2 hours, but the coals were terrible. The best smoke lasted for 10-15 minutes tops and the coals lasted 25 minutes before needing to be replaced. At the rate we were going, if we smoked 30g of this herbal shisha, we woulda used all 10 coals. About 20 minutes after the seshion I got hit with an insane headache. My buddy got one as well, but too a much lesser extent, likely because he smoked less than I did. It's been 3 days and my headache has stuck around, I cant figure it out, but I figure it must be from either this weird Herbal Shisha or these Quick-Light coals. I read that the coals are cheap like barbeque coals and give off carbon monoxide, do you suppose I could have Co2 poisening? Or am I having a harsh reaction to this weird herbal shisha. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

the herbal stuff is weird, i dont get it at all. the store had tobacco shisha like al waha and starbuzz and all the normal stuff.. but it was 18 bucks for 50 grams, and the herbal was $5 for 50g. the flavour is weaker but the smoke is softer and its tar + nicotine free apparently.

Voski is right if you MUST use quicklights go with Golden or 3 Kings but I would switch to natural coals like exotica or coconara's...any brand is better than herbal...the worst stuff I have is better than most herbal i have tried.

should we complete avoid using the quick light coals from now on or just be more moderate in how much we smoke? it was brand new to him so he was eager to just keep going and going, and the herbal stuff was so easy to smoke i just went on with him.

nope, 18 grams this local smoke shop sold their 50 gram packs for. it was bizarre. you'd understand this place selling it for more since its not an actually a hookah store, its more of a head shop, which is the intentional sale of most of their hookahs, but , yeah.. 18. Edited by Joshmmc

Find out what brand those coals are. I used to smoke with three kings ALL DAY long as in from 10am-2am with no issues almost non stop. I personally like 3 kings the most. I have tried golden coals but they didn't cut it for me. Starbuzz 50g for $18??!?!?!? WHAT that has to be wrong it should be 250g I would honestly never walk into that store again. Shit I would rather go to a lounge then pay for that fuck that. Order some shit from the internet. Where do you live you have to live somewhere close to a reputable vendor. If you have a way to light naturals (stove, torch, ect...) I would recommend you get coco-naras.

afraid to try tangiers, it sounds impossible to get right and im just too much of an amateur to spend all day trying to pack a bowl.

Thats why I said lucid. Its the new line it packs like any other tobacco! I can't pack regular tangiers for shit but I packed a perfect bowl of lucid.

ive never bought anything online before.

I think the time has come for online ordering to commence young grasshopper.

For $18, you could get a 250g tub of Layalina/Starbuzz/Tangier's Lucid/Al Fakher/Al Waha/whatever shipped to you, and your chances of getting a fresh tub are probably a lot better than a shady head shop. At $18 a 50g pack, my guess is it has been sitting there for a while.

I've also experienced headaches from the quicklight coals. Tried a couple different kinds, sporadically got a headache from each kind. Not 100% of the time, but enough to make me switch to Exoticas.
