Buying Starbuzz For First Time Tonite.

Yea, after trying a few Starbuzz flavors, seems to me that it's WAY overrated. Peach loses its flavor after about 45 minutes. Blackberry holds its flavor for about as long, maybe a little longer. Watermelon is the same way when I smoked it at the bar yesterday. To me, Starbuzz is overrated. Tangiers, Al Waha, Fusion, Layalina and Nakhla for me from now on.

Well I'm back from the shop with Chocolate Mint.
Smells amazing...smokes okay.
Heat management seems to be key...I scorched it with just a half log of StarGate.
Took some off to let it cool then added some tiny kibbles and it burned again.

Any tips?

update : I went ahead and started over with a fresh / mini set of coals.
Bad idea. Zero Flavor, thin smoke.
Ugh...bummed right now.

In my opinion Starbuzz smokes best in a deep Mya bowl. To get full flavor you have to use quite a bit of tobacco and since it's expensive to start with, doing that isn't what most people want to do. Fusion is a better buy in my opinion because you can use less in a regular Egyptian bowl and it's not so heat sensitive. However, watch out for the latest batch of honey (honey, honeyberry) flavors. Something isn't right about them. The flavor is weak, somewhat chemical tasting, and it has a weird effect on your mouth. Amost like you burned your mouth or something. I can't even explain it very well, but it's bad. And Fusion Honeyberry has been my favorite smoke since I discovered it months ago. Starbuzz Honeyberry is good, but more berries than the honey flavor. My all time favorite Starbuzz flavor is Mango. Nobody does it better in my opinion. Nobody.

Blue Mist is the only flavor I'd recommend out of those that I have tried. Whatever you do, don't buy watermelon. Tangiers, Layalina, Al Fakher, Fusion, Fantasia, or just about any other brand is better with that flavor IMO. I'm also not a fan of X on the Beach, but that's more of a personal preference than anything else. The flavor is there, but I hate it. Edited June 9, 2008 by Ralleac
