Jeff_T
That sucks, use some money to pay off a little bit on the card. Then place the order, if this is possible.

But both sides of hte pond lots of card companies carry transactions over the visa network. I can understand why HC want proof of id if your paying by something that requires no age verification.HC would have to show due diligence in ensuring they were not shipping to a minor. A Credit Card or Bank Card I guess would be considered due diligence. A money order would not?Just a thought to chew over.JD
Snoopy1966
Get a debit card from your Bank. That is what I only use. I will never get a credit card. You are 19 like your profile says correct??

There's no way for retailers to determine whether a Visa card number given to them is actually a credit card, so there's no way for them to guarantee that the cardholder is 18 or above. If they were charged in court with supplying tobacco to someone under 18* it would show due diligence that there methods and processes assumed that a visa card [Either credit or debit] is proof of age.I know of one case that was heard that proved this point and the vendor was cleared of the supply to underage as the product was purchased via visa electron.*I can't prove this exact point, but now in the uk I believe that <18's have the 'Delta' Card that piggy back's visa** but is only given to sub 18's or people with horrendeous credit ratings.JD* - I can only speak of english legal systems.** - So it works at all Visa locations as well. I just didn't read your first post very thoroughly before replying to it. Sorry about that!I definitely think that online vendors should look into other means of age verification though (and it seems you'd agree), because the "credit card" system is becoming increasingly shoddy, partly because of the relatively new cards you're describing. You are 19 like your profile says correct??well i have both however my bank has screwed me over a couple of times so i make damn sure not to use my debit card anymore unless i absolutely have to.well i applied for the credit card when i first turned 18 and to my suprise me without any established credit, they approved my so i just buy things i NEED and pay it off in like 2-3 payments that way i build a little credit and im not making irrational purchases. like my most recent purchase were books for school, and even though i have the money in the bank i figure why not build a little credit? and yes im only nineteen.
