absolutely, take the grommet with you and just check out a ton of
different vases.  you probably wanna make sure the vase is deep
enough for the stem of your hookah, but i guess if it was an emergency
you could bust out a hacksaw

if the grommet is a couple of millimeters too small, this is no
problem.  simply wrap tape around teh base of your stem (where the
grommet goes, but before you put the grommet on)  and then put the
grommet on over the tape.  this will fill it out nicely.

if you want a good place to find a vase, check tj maxx :)

Check through a few pages. There are atleast 2 different people who
have had success with TJMax. If you are bold, just take your whole stem
in with you and see if anything fits. And like mentioned above, use
black electrical tape to make any vase that is slightly too large fit.

i hope you learned your lesson- never hold your hookah by the stem when the vase is in! alwats carry them seperately!

i suggest tjmaxx like these other guys say, or order it online. If you
have any cool lamps that works too (like porcelain lamps.)

Use electrical tape! Its stickiness doesn't stay around and it is the most waterproof of affordable tape and it comes in a dozen different colors. It should smoke fine. I knew a guy who designed a hookah bookshelf! you stuck a head with charcoal in a certain place and put the water in this jug at the bottom and plugged a hose into the side. I have also seen comercially produced combination hookahs/backgammon tables! The point is, the design doesn't matter. The physics is the same. In organic chemistry/industry we use gas traps that are similar. The principle behind the trap under your sink, too.
