Glass Varnish?

I'm waiting very impatiently for my Tri-metal to turn up, and have been reading up on it in the meantime.

It seems as though they have a problem with the paint on the vase peeling:

Has anyone used Glass Paint Varnish to stop this happening? The stuff sounds like it could work:

You may want to protect your solvent based paint with a coat of varnish. Glass paint varnish comes in a gloss or matt finish. The gloss varnish can be used as a colourless thinner to obtain pastel shades, without affecting the transparency and depth of colour. The matt varnish gives a finish like frosted glass.

Seems pretty cheap -around $6 a CAN (£2.98)

Also, this guy uses Yacht Varnish which'll probably be more durable/waterproof etc:

Any good, or will I just have to put up with peeling paint?

first, i'd find out if its a solvent based paint km uses, second if you intend to do a clear coat over the glass make sure you can buff it so its shiny and clean looking, you wouldn't want it to end up looking worse than if you took all of the paint off altogether.
