John Stuart Mill
QUOTE (mushrat @ Jun 12 2008, 06:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Mya Saray. single piece cast stems, screw in ports and purge valve..nothing to break.I wholeheartedly agree with mushrat’s comment. I could bludgeon someone to death with my stem. I’ve used several KMs (Hafa and Tri-Metal) and own a Syrian and Egyptian. I’ve never broken any, but the Mya stem is far heavier and I can’t imagine it ever breaking. I also think any perceived smoking difference between KMs and Myas is purely psychosomatic. The glass on some of the newer models did have problems, but you probably have spare bases anyways. You can also get their stems with non-mya bases at various retailers, or just go acrylic. If you want the toughest stem imaginable get a Mya. That being said, I’m sure KMs or quality built Egyptians will stand up to most abuse. Myas stems are probably tougher than anyone but a lounge requires. There are plenty of solid pipes highlighted in the review section.
indy
I think Mya Acrylic is the sure win here. How do you make a more durable base than that? The stem screws to the base for a perfect seal, extremely long lasting (metal vs. rubber). Screw in purge valves, plugs, and hose adaptors, all which can be replaced easily should one fail. I just don't know how you can be any more durable than that fellas. Hell, this thing is made strong enough to take backpacking through the wilderness with. AKammenzind
Eh? I don't get why a stem or hose port breaking off would be such a problem. Me and my friends have been hookah-fiends for a year and a half now, and we haven't had one break yet... even if one did I'd just weld or solder it back together, big deal. Welding or soldering everyone cannot do, and it takes a bit of skill. Buying a 5 dollar piece and screwing a new one in is much easier and more convenient. mikeypas
OK, with every new post I read, I get more unsure about which hookah to purchase. Remembering that I'm looking for the hookah the will last me the longest (durability)a) MZ nerfertiti KM Horasc) KM Exoticad) Mya ColossusHoras has the brass stem, which should last me longer right? vs exotica which is SS? (i know many topics on this, but just in generalities) ?Colossus is just beautiful but $$$ . any ideas if it smokes as well as the MZ or KM s? Does the MYa colossus downstem unscrew as well (ie replaceable) ? how about the others?and finally, looking also to get a namoor hose and a funnel bowl (the jet glass funnel looks really nice).. anyone could suggest where i could find each of these items?? seems no one site has them all... thanks alot! Bulldog_916
All the ones you outlined (and the Horas is an MZ) will smoke well. Make your decision based on your preference aesthetically and price wise.
