Is It Possible To Underpack A Bowl

Hey everyone. Me and one of my buddies were having an argument yesterday. I recently picked up a small bowl that holds very little shisha so that way I could have a nice quick solo session if I wanted to. My friend was saying that I could still use a larger bowl and just fill it only halfway with shisha in there (or essential just pack it with however much shisha I wanted) and it would be fine. I always thought that if you underpack the bowl then you can't have a good smoke session. Am I wrong?

You can underpack a bowl and get a good session, but you need more heat because it's further away from the source

my friend would pack part of a funnel bowl like just one side, i assume it could would work with a normal bowl, just dont poke holes on the part with nothing should work

it works fine, you just have to worry about foil sagging when you mess with your coals is all. If you use a screen its easy t pack a half bowl.

when i load a shallow bowl, i'll covor the entire bottom evenly and thinly, ensuring to cover all holes. then once i put the foil on, i'll let the foil sag down by even pushing down on the foil to bring the heat closer to the tobacco. works like a charm.
