aethiolas
So I put in my biggest order of Hookah Stuff yet and I was majorly pumped about. Here's what I ordered(just for reference b/c people like to see it):Hookah-Shisha: - Syrian Engineer 1 hose - Large Funnel Bowl - Exoticas(restocking) - Sbz(Sour Apple, Wildberry mint & Mojito) - Turqoise NammorHookah Company - KM Hybrid - Tangiers Lucid Tasty Peach and WatermelonAnyway, the HS order has come in and I decided to try out the new syrian. I'm not at all impressed. I've only smoked from 3 hookahs in my life, a crappy cheap egyptiian, my qt and a KM(spoons actually). Well I ordered the syrian b/c I liked the looks of it and I was hoping it would smoke at least close to the KM and I have to say, its not great @ all. The pull is a LOT harder than the KM. I actually ordered the KM for my g/f but it looks life after this, Im' gonna be using it more than her! Anyone else have this experience or am I just expecting more than I should? This thing has a harder pull than my QT!

Snoopy1966
Pics would help a lot. Did you get your sweet spot for the water level? I put water in the vase to where I know I will get some water in my mouth. Draw from the hose port with your mouth with no bowl or any thing, then dump out a little water until you do not get water in your mouth. There is the sweet spot. Is the Nammor fitting into the port good? Also when you do the water level thing put your thumb on the top of the stem and draw through the hose port again and listen if there are any air leaks. My Syrian does not pull as easy as my KM's
aethiolas
As for the water level I set mine up almost identical to that. I did check for the air leaks and I can pull a bit through and I haven't investigated where that is however, I wouldn't think that would make the pull harder, I would think it would actually be easier b/c of that, but I could be wrong obviously, stilll a noob. NickReppinThe909
are you packing your bowl too tight or are you using the phunnel ?
Big Boss
QUOTE (Snoopy1966 @ Jun 17 2008, 10:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>My Syrian does not pull as easy as my KM's The stems on KMs are usually wider that most other stems, so that should be taken into consideration. Was the water level almost identicle in accordance to the base or to the stem? I assume that you were using your Nammor and Phunnel, correct? aethiolas
I'm actually using the exact same setup I had on my previous hookah so it has to come down to the hookah itself. I didn't expect it to be as great as the KM honestly, but I was hoping it would at least pull as well as the QT...oh well, I guess it will work for on occasional smoke. I also have the famed "heart of the lion" KM that everyone seems to be liking on the way so I guess I can at least do a true head to head at that point. Sonthert
Possibly the hose, or a piece of schmutz in the hose port/tube. excelsior (wood shavings) often get stuck in there from shipping try a thin brush on the shank. Check the draw of the hose separately. If its washable, wash it. If its not, try the same thin brush, but dry in the hose stem to dislodge wood pieces in there. oolatec
As far as Syrians go... H-S's selection is severely lacking. I have a Syrian from Social Smoke (when they offered them... glad I snatched it up), and one from another vendor... both smoke great. The one from the other vendor is my regular rig actually.Sucks you are disappointed. Keep that KM though...
aethiolas
Went through the stem and cleaned out and still having the same issue. Hose is the same with two sep hoses. As for the bowl, its a funnel so no issues there. I have not checked all the individual ports(can be setup as a 3 hose but only have 1 connected) so that will be a project for tomorrow. I tried smoking it again today and I honestly believe this thing has to have something stuck in it b/c the pull on it is actually harder than the chinese knock off I first bought! We shall see... Bulldog_916
Go through every port on the hookah to make sure it is clear of debris. I'm with Eric on this one, there is no way a Syrian can have a harder pull than a chinese knockoff. Try with a different hose too. Test every variable. j3oomerang
im sure you'll figure it out tomorrow.-check hose by itself; pull on it when its not plugged in-if the hose pulls air through freely, connect the hose with the stem (no base or head), an d see if that pulls freely-if that works, connect the base (with no head or water), and see if that pulls easy-if it does, add some water-if everything is still working great, put the head on-then the tobacco-then the foil, with holes of courseMake sure your gaskets are being used properly and that they arent creating any blockage when you fasten parts together. But yeah, just check every hole like bulldog suggested. If there is something wrong with it, you should be able to find out what it is.
aethiolas
Well I fixed the problem, kinda. I took the whole thing apart piece by piece and my problem came down to the chamber. Cleaned it well and still no luck. Got to checking out the hose port and realized at the bottom rather than being open, it had 4 holes drilled in it(prob to hold back the autoseal which I'm not using). Went ahead and drilled the bottom out of the port completely and now the pull is a lot better. Still not great but a heck of a lot better! Thanks for all the help guys!
