By all means, the coals are good but its just that a small taste is imparted in the shisha. I also hate how they leave the little grainy black pieces when you move them and they get sucked in. It's just that there are better coals than coco's (Canarys).

hmmm really? ive never had a bad experiance with cocos...i do agree they take a bit more time to lite up but they never give off a smell/taste for me...and they give of very little ash compared to quick lites/exoticas...idk i think you should give em another try there imo the best smile.gif

I got some natural coconut coals from HC coming on Monday. If they are as good as the coconaras, that means you're paying for the brand. 5 dollars more. I figure it might be valuable information. Since I have not smoked with the cocos, I'll have to post up all the characteristics of smoking with the natural coconut charcoal, you guys can compare them to your experience with the coconaras. If they are the same, then its kind of like getting generic drugs that do the same thing as name brand drugs only they do it 30% cheaper. Should be interesting, I havent seen any reviews for the coconut coals from HC.

Care to elaborate please?

I mean, people have said that about a lot of coals that were amazing. Some said exotica coals sucked and they were far and away the best coals I've used. Some said that easy lites from rolland sucked and they were great minus the huge heat factor. Had to cut the quarters in half to use them with tangiers, not a big deal, actually makes them more economical, if at 7 dollars that's possible. Some said Diamante Jap coals sucked but I had great experiences with those. Some said that Rolland Naturals sucked and they were pretty damn good as well. So when you say that the Coconut Coals suck, you gotta give me some details.

I was thinking about trying out a box of Coco Naras today... But the shop was charging $4.50 per box of 16. Rip off.

I love Coco nara's. I need to order more cause I used up my 84 count box like a week and a half ago. I'll have to go with everyone else and say that is was a bad batch because the CoCo Nara's I used are excellent. A++

cocoa naras are the shizznit, maybe bad batch or what not, never get a taste from them, or really a smell

I have a box of 40 mm 3 kings coals and 4 boxes of exotica. I just recently finished a little sample box 16ct of some maras and now I'm sold on them. Anyone want to trade some naras for some exoticas smile.gif?

The most troubling thing about this entire thread is how the fanboys gather to protect. It's like saying luke skywalker blows donkeys at a Star wars convention rolleyes.gif

What ever happened to personal preference? Or how about personal tolerances?

Maybe there is a smell & taste that ghost can detect due to his palate ?
Or maybe there are quality issues?

Also, Just how the hell do you make coal out of coconuts exactly?

Anyways, It's nice to see a few alternative opinions on these 'super best coals since sliced bread'.

Thanks Ghost good.gif

I stand by Nour coals. I also use 3 Kings, Canary or Abu Haitham Japanese Coals, and Olive Wood coals. The Olive wood burns nice and hot and they last a long time. They look like tree stems/branches and after they are lit, I break them with a hammer and the smaller size is perfect for heat management.

I'm a big coco nanara fan. I tried exoticas and I do like them, just having to break each stick can grow a bit annoying. coco's are the perfect shape. just light them up place on the bowl and you're good to go.
