ronald_dooley
First let me say, "I don't have a phunnel." I know someone's gonna suggest that I get a phunnel to smoke my Tangiers... maybe I will get one later, but right now I have a Superchief, and some people have said that they enjoy smoking Tangiers from their Superchief.I have Tangiers Brambleberry. The problem is that I can't really tell what it's supposed to taste like. A lot of people say that it's really good, but I can't really tell because every time I try to smoke it (in my egyptian bowl or my superchief), it burns really, really easily and I get scorched Shisha flavor. I am making two concentric rings of medium-sized holes on the outside (using a bamboo skewer) about 1/2 cm apart. I am using one layer of foil. Using 2-3 coco naras. My setup is the following:Mya QTNammor hoseTangiers small Superchief bowlAny advice would be greatly appreciated, since I really want to experience Tangiers like I'm supposed to... which everybody seems to think is really good.- Ronp.s. - I still don't get the acclimation process. I poured all the tangiers onto a layer of foil and spread it out for 5 hours, mixing it occasionally. I did that twice, in fact. It still smells a bit funny, a little bit musty/salty like chewing tobacco. Is that normal? My Al-Fakher flavors smell much nicer right out of the tub. If after a while it still is nasty, you prob got a batch that was being mixed with cigar tobacco. Or supposidly being mixed. Mush and a few others were keeping an eye out, where did you buy the shisha from? Also use 2 cocos for the egyptian and i believe 2 should be enough for a superchief as well. If you get the burn taste, I would make bigger holes and use more shisha. Using bigger holes may sound weird if you have a burning issue but it seems to allow the shisha to breath better, at least for me when using tangiers. Also keep in mind tangiers takes almost no heat to burn, or at least alot less than other shishas so start with low heat and slowly work your way up.Hope this helps
Dom
here's what helped my brambleberry.in addition to using less heat, increase your distance from the shisha to the bowl. when i pack tangiers in a non-phunnel, i pack it really light and ensure that none of the tobacco touches the foil at all. so just pack it more shallow than you usually do. try that and see if it works.about acclimating:be sure that in addition to acclimating the tobacco as soon as you get it, acclimate it for an hour or so before you smoke as well. also, some people don't like to do this, but others like to cut up or sred their tangiers as soon as they open it for the first time. it may help with the acclimation, or it may not. it may help it smoke better, maybe not, but i doubt that it will hurt anything. might give that a try, too. if you do try that, let me know. i haven't tried that, but if it helps your brambleberry, i may do it to mine as well. Sonthert
If the smoke is thin and harsh, generally its not enough tobacco in the bowl. I have found filling the bowl (to about 1/8" from the top) and having a good dense pack works best. Somewhat underpacked bowls will be OK for a few minutes and then go harsh. ronald_dooley
Meh.... it works okay. I do get a session of an hour or more without burning my shisha, but I just don't find the experience that extraordinary. For the moment, I'm going to say that I don't like this bag of Tangiers Brambleberry that I got. Al-Fakher FTW! Good flavor and no goddam problems (acclimating, packing juuuust right, exhausting heat-management, bleh...).Another shisha I've tried recently that I really like is Potion Shisha "turkish delight" flavor. Very good, and the aroma really brings you back to a small cafe in the middle east. It is what they smoke in Turkey... or at least it really takes me there.I've got Starbuzz "blue mist" coming in next week from Tarik... hopefully it will be good.Anybody got any suggestions for brands/flavors?- Ron

Stuie
Anything Nakhla is stellar, especially Peach, Margarita, Orange, and Cherry. Careful smoking anything after it, replace the base water, Smoked Peach and tried Pharaohs strawberry and the juice from peach fell in the base, and Pharaoh just couldn't over come it. hehRomman Good Times, Prunes, Sweet Start, Chocolate, Vanilla, MintFantasia Pink Lemonade, Margarita, and Wild MangoHookah Hookah Key Lime Pie, Pumpkin Spice....the only hookah hookah flavors I smokeTangiers Horchata, Blue Gumball, Maraschino Cherry, Summer Solstice
