Washing Shisha?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Another question for you. I went out to buy some shisha today, and the guy at the store told me that he really likes to take the shisha he's going to smoke and rinse it under water for a few seconds, squeeze out the water, and then put it in the bowl.

I tried it today and I think the flavor is not as strong (I wouldn't know, though - I haven't smoked this brand of shisha before), but don't notice any other real difference.

Have any of you tried doing this before? And what's it supposed to do?

My guess would be that it washes out even more of the nicotine content and a little of the flavor?

Any thoughts?

wow. i've never even heard of anyone doing that.

i know that there's "washed shisha" where the tobacco is washed during the shisha-making process.

i don't think i'd ever try that. if you want washed tobacco, then buy it washed.

I think he's talking about persian tombeik. You rinse it real quick and it goes right into the bowl, coal on top of the shisha directly. That's the traditional style.

that's hardcore, man. i've heard about that kind of tobacco, always wanted to try that, but not sure if i'll be able to do it.
where can one get some of that?

if the guy at your local shop is washing brands like AF, then wallbash.gif

If you guys are wanting to smoke the traditional tombeik, you are suppose to puff it, kind of like a cigar. Its not meant to be smoked like AF, SB, etc...

I've heard of that technique before. Years ago a guy told me that he was at a lounge and the owner would wash his shisha if it was super ooey gooey. I'd say it makes sense if you have a traditional bowls and you don't have the time to thoroughly clean them, but it kills the flavor.
