modisess
Hey I have a problem here. Whenever I have a session, my hookah doesn't really give off smoke with any real kind of noticeable flavors from the tobacco. I have 99% confidence that my hookah is set up right. But my smoke really just picks up the flavors of really strong flavors such as mint etc. But whenever I use my mixed fruit tobacco I only notice a subtle taste of the flavour. Is this is a problem with my tobacco? Or is it the stem? I havent really thoroughly washed my stem, just because I don't have the proper cleaning tools to do it. So I just rinse them with water and then dry them off.I'm really having a hard time with this because whenever I smoke at the bar or cafe, you can really taste the flavours unlike mine. Any help is appreciated. Oh yeah, I forgot the brand of my tobacco because I store them in different containers.
Victim026
Well knowing the brand of your tobacco would be the first step in the right direction... What kind of coals are you using also?
NickReppinThe909
how often do you wash your hookah and how old is your hose ?
liquidglass
also you need to take into account, how long you've had the shisha, old shisha won't have as much taste because it's dried out some. Plus bowl, and how you're packing etc
modisess
Well to answer some of the question, I've had my hookah for only about 2 months now. I wash my hose and stem after every use. I'm using self-lighting charcoal tablets. Also, I'm pretty sure that the tobacco I had came in a Nakhla type box, but I'm not sure whether it's an imitation or not. Yeah, but I just bought a cleaning kit today so I'll what happens and also I'm gonna look for some Al Fakher tobacco since alot of people reccomended it. The tobacco I bought is the same time as my shisha. Any suggestions on what flavors I should get? Currently thinking of buying double apple. EternalSoil
you probably dont have a washable hose so that will be a part of the problem, if not now, then later when you suck rust particles into your mouth. You really need to make sure you clean the inside very well. the kit you bought should help a lot to get gunk and stale flavors out.good luck! Kusk
Is this a problem ONLY for mixed fruit tobacco, or for a lot of similar flavors? If it is only the mixed fruit, you might have a dud batch. If there is an absence of taste, I doubt that it is flavor-stains in the stem...Hows the smoke? If you are not getting much smoke even with a proper set-up, there could be a leak. modisess
i just use normal self lighting coals, there's no brand to it actually. i can have no complaints about the smoke, i get plenty. but i haven't had yet to try any other similar flavored shisha since i only have mixed fruit, mint and caramel (which is absolutely terrible, i don't know why i bough that one) at the moment. i don't really use mint as a main flavor since it's too strong for my liking. but i'll try and buy some other tobacco and maybe another brand of charcoal and see if it changes anything.thanks for all the help so far! dakingkevin23
most no brand QL's suck...I'd go out and buy some naturals, if possible.
modisess
i can't go through the hassle of lighting natural coals really, i have to be discreet here about my sessions. (parents you see) but if it really helps the flavor then i might as well go for it then going through with tasteless smoke.
NickReppinThe909
try some 3 kings (the real ones) or some easy lites
mushrat
nakhala mixed fruit sucks. I suspecty that is your MAIN problem. Also, do you have proper air flow through the bowl. If its packed too tight the heat cant get through the tobacco and you end up with a little smoke, a little flavour, then it burns like hell...before you put your bowl on your hookah and before you foil, try suckign air through te bottom of the bowl. If your getting any kind of resistance, its too tight and pack it looser. That may also be part of the problem.
modisess
i rarely get bowl issues as i get tons of smoke everytime. but i've just bought some nakhla double apple and see if there's a difference. if not, maybe i'll have to change my brand of coals. Codename067
Try changing the coals I suppose.
Baric
I had the exact same problem with my first pipe - great smooth smoke, the right buzz but absolutely tasteless on all but mint flavours. I found that a soak of thepipe (in my bathtub for a few hours) and using cleaning products like bicarbonate of soda really helped. I started tasting flavour in most smokes and strong flavour in double apples etc. However, I think my pipe was truly beyond rescue since it was only when i bought a brand new pipe (not one from an ebay seller) that i started getting good flavour on nearly all smokes. Give your pipe a soak, if that doesn't work, maybe consider a reinvestment?
modisess
Reinvestment? *sigh* The word I've been dreading. I can't try the double apple for now, because i prefer to only smoke on the weekends. Oh yeah, I seem to be getting soot in my hose during my sessions. Any help? Or explanation on how this could happen and how to fix it?
