Why So Hostile? Hf Members? Huh?

Recently Ive noticed a lot of rude/unnessasary behavior on this forum. Someone asks if a product is good or not, one says it is then another says it isnt; out-breaks an argument. Someone complains about poor service or a bad product and someone wants to argue. Most of the time its miscommunication or just hard to tell when one is teasing; you cant read someones tone of voice, you know? Then someone will get banned because they said NHT or something related, then an argument aboout being banned. I saw just about 5 pages of people making one feel bad about free samples, when guess what, it wasnt even about the free samples! Its not fair. Recently my day was completely ruined by a member writing me an all out hate leter full of put-downs and cursing, because i was following up on a shipment; I didnt know his issues, I was never told, I still dont know why the f-in thing was even nessasary. Ill admit, Ive got on someone about posting something for the millionth time instead of using the search. Lately Ive found it more effective to just ignore an annoyance and just watch and learn. It just bugs me. Theres days when Ill just read on this forum and not even bother to chime in because of this fact.

Yeah... the free samples debacle was brutal. I can't say that I've noticed an influx of rude behavior, but I have noticed that people can be a bit harsh from time to time. I either try to see the good in the bad or I ignore the situation all-together. And yeah, there were a few days when I didn't post very much for that same reason. On the whole, though, I feel that HF is the best hookah forum on the internet, hands down. Its kinda crazy, how proud I am to be a member of HookahForum instead of some other forum. Just my 2 cents.

i've also noticed that within the past week or couple weeks that people have been a lot more defensive, argumentative and had shorter fuses.
we are hookah-smokers for pete's sake! we are supposed to be chill from the nicotine buzz. what has happened? maybe we are all having a nic fit from too much smooking the previous day. lol. i don't know what it is, but i've noticed it, too.

and yes, this is the best forum ever. even though we have been having arguments lately, we are still the best, most organized and most respectful forum out there, from my experience. and furthermore, the people on this forum are way more dependable for information than other forums. even non hookah-related stuff. people will go out of thier way to look something up or do an experiment to try to answer a question as quickly as possible (before someone else answers it first. lol). i remember when i needed advice about a tatoo and within like 15 minutes of posting my thread, i had several people talking about it and responding. i posted the same question on the TattooForum and it took two days for someone to respond. and no one else resonded except that one guy. and that's suposed to be a TATTOO FORUM, but no one gives a shit.

That's what i like about HookahForum... we give a shit on this forum, damnit!

I've only been a member of this forum for about a month and a half but it seems like much longer. It's a great community with much to offer. To throw my 2 cents in: I think people openly being dickheads to eachother for the sake of petty arguing should be punished more heavily than someone who references NHT... I see drug references leading to bans all the time but I've yet to see a mod publicly discipline someone for not keeping a civil tone in the forum. No, I'm not pegging it on you mods, I know you have a tough gig as is this is just my observation. We should all be adults here and it's absurd to me that we can't be civil and even more absurd that we should even need mods for this sort of thing.

What I feel it comes down to is this...There is no freudian slip in typing. You have to think out your thoughts, commit to punching the keys, then submit the post/chat by hitting a button to do so. It's all premeditated, and because of that I have little tolerence for someone spreading hate in type form. No excuses and I'd like to see this taken a little more seriously.

If anything will drive me away from this place it wont be drug references it'll be douchebaggery that leaves the victim and innocent bystanders with a sour taste in their mouths. I highly value this place. I have a busy life w/out too many close friends and I enjoy the comraderrie. Please don't ruin it for myself and those like me by being shmucks. I deal with enough of that in reality I don't need it in cyberspace too.

Yup, thats my point! Another thing that adds fuel to the fire are the people that have to add jokes to someone getting banned. Im sorry, but when I was banned it was like people came out of the woodwork to make jokes about me. And most, if not all of them, dont even know me!

There is certain times we publicly announce a members ban for their ignorance regarding NHT or other reasons like spammers and so on so we can get the message across that it will not be tolerated here at HF. We watch as much posts as we can here and we do our best. I understand where you are coming from gnr. There has been many times that members have been warned to be civil in the forums. I think there was one a couple of days ago even. There was a ban for not being civil in chat the other day also. We want to have a nice forum where members can come here and discuss their techniques, ask for help and many members do, that is why I love this place. Unfortunately there is always going to be someone to rain on the parade no matter if it is a forum or out there at work etc. As Mush has stated, you get a PM that insults you and is nasty, forward us a copy and it will be dealt with asap!

Thanks Snoopy for the post. I know you guys work really hard to keep stuff in check. I guess I'm still naively searching for that place where the jerks aren't, even when i logically know that place doesn't exist. We are human afterall. It's just a bummer that a site dedicated to hookahs which I think for most of us represent reflection, relaxation, and community has to deal with this also. I totally get it it just sucks... Call me a hopeful pessimist striving to be an optimist.

I also can't stand the NHT references for the record, personally I don't do it, I'm not necessarilly against it, I just think it doesn't belong here at all as we smokers have a bad enough rep and enough misunderstanding to fight against as is.
