Sup everyone, First time poster here.

First of all thanks for all the great advice. I've been reading the boards for about a month and finally decided to join up as I've been using my hookah more often (tall rotator, single hose, no idea of brand, bought used from a friend for 30 bucks biggrin.gif but it's already lasted 1.5 years with only a new hose and a soldering job on the broken valve). After seeing so many shining reviews of Starbuzz I gave some a try (Black Grape, and Spearamint) after mistakingly picking up some chocolate mint SKYbuzz, which is probably how the rip off gets most of it's business. It was like 6 bucks cheaper for a 250 (btw, flavor was pretty decent but it burns like a mutha). I digress. I tried the black grape and hadn't had that pleasurable of a smoke since my first time. I'm a lightwieght and smoked it 4 times in 2 days averaging 1-1.5 hours a session. What other great smokes are out there that I might not be aware of at a better price? I'm a sucker for big clouds and good flavor. It doesn't have to be super intense just good... Oh, and I'm pretty damn broke.

Thanks and Peace, Giant Ninja Robot

Al fakher makes pretty good tobacco. The AF peach is on par with starbuzz white peach (which everyone seems to love).

Thanks. The next I was gonna pick up was a Starbuzz Peach.

You will find 3 majors brands that the people on this board (myself included) recommend over and over

Cheapest to most expensive:

Al-Fakher

Starbuzz

and

Tangiers

.....those are really the only 3 flavors I purchase and smoke regularly

I'd say fantasia but it's price has gone up. I would agree that AF would be a comparable brand in terms of flavor to starbuzz but keep in mind starbuzz flavor dies fast, AF lasts really long, so personally I prefer AF.

tangiers is not the most expensive out of those 3.

starbuzz is way more expensive than tangiers. tangiers lasts the longest out of those 3 by 2 times at least also

Is it found pretty easily locally? I'm not into internet shopping. Call me behind the times. The starbuzz i get is 18 bucks a 250, how much average for the tangiers? (Dreaming of a magic world where shisha is free and I have more time in which to smoke)

tangiers is hard to find locally, at least for me. if you happen to be in san diego then its very easy to find locally.

(tangiers has a higher learning curve, but by far the best easily available tobacco on the market). its all over the internet though.

it really depends where you live

...yes you are right SB is more expensive ... i guess I just think of Tangiers as the upper echelon of hookah smoke - which makes it cost more in my head wink.gif

I agree with the AF peach starbuzz peach comparison. One brand i didnt think i have seen mentioned is Tonic. If its still out there then i'd put it up against SB and it IS cheaper.

No, the economically blazing state of Michigan. Do you sense my slightly bitter sardonic tone? I'm sure I can find AF locally. I've seen it before. Any ideas on the best mint? I use it to mix with pretty much any fruity flavor.

sounds like the concensus is that SB, Tangiers, and AF are the most consistantly good brands. I'm pretty excited since I still have a ton of exploring to do and want to try everything that sounds good. It doesn't hurt to have someone to vouch for the quality.

It's interesting that the three most recomended brands are made in the U.S. and UAE and none from egypt where many of them are from. I don't know of that means anything, just interesting.

I was a starbuzz fan at first and I still like it. But I've become a big fan of Lucid. I've tried 2 flavors and I'll be trying more soon. AF is good value for most flavors.

hmm... ive never thought the highly of AF, and have been a fan of Al Waha, but this could just be because I started with Al Waha. Is AF higher quality then Al Whaha? (I dont mean to hijack the thread but its pretty close to the conversation)

Tangiers is very high quality, higher than Starbuzz IMO, but its a very heavy smoke. If you really are a lightweight when it comes to smoking you might not enjoy it that much. I think AF is more bang for your buck than starbuzz but you will have a more familiar experience and a easier time using AF rather than Tangiers.

Isn't the new Nakhla Mizo line similar to Starbuzz or am I retarded?

I'm surprised to see that Layalina hasn't been discussed in here yet. I thought a lot of people liked it? Edited by bayne
