Anxiety
alright so ive heard some pretty good things about them, and i'm basically looking for a sort-of back up coal. I like to use 1 set of 3 coco's on a small funnel bowl, then when they die out i use 1 40 mm golden but thats still not enough, but another set of coco's is sometimes too much heat.i was wondering with the jap coals when you light them do they like ignite themselves? or is it like a natural coal and needs to be heated all the way around. I know it says quick lite, but i hear alot of people say there not that quick so i was just wondering how exactly they lite.
Big Boss
I always used a propane torch to light my easy-lites.
racemyghost
they have to be heated up. they wont lite up like a 3kings instant coal would.
Codename067
A Single burner gets them done in about 4 minutes or less. 2 minutes/side.
Anxiety
ahhh alright, so they don't do that sparking thing that most quick lites do, so they are basically naturals

TexasHookah
The Easy-Lite Japanese Coals are definitely a good backup source and for some people thats all they use. Just depends on preference. They light up quicker than most natural coals but take longer than quicklights such as three kings and rolland. The Japanese coals do last longer than the quicklites though from personal experience. MechAnt
These take a medium amount of time to light (opposed to coco's which I'd classify as long time).Silver must be taken off prior to smoking because it is just silver paint.Stove and or torch required.Pretty good for the price.Take a relatively short amount of time to light.Silver does not have to be taken off (it's some aluminum something that allows it to light quickly and doesn't add taste)Can potentially be lit by a lighter. Just hold a corner to a flame for a bit and then blow it till it's ready. Can also light second set by "butt fucking" the coals (placing unlit on top of the lit ones. They take a few minutes to get ready.)A bit expensive but great coals. Edited June 29, 2008 by MechAnt
Dom
japanese coals are "easy lights" not "quick lights." like Coda said, quick lights inply that there is gun powder. the silver stuff on the japanese coals is aluminum. you do not need to scrape it off.
