New hookah :)

Recommended Posts

Well, my buddy and I were thinking of what to get our hookah friend, whom we already shared 6 hookahs, for his birthday. We went by our local nut shop who also sells arguily's. We saw this beautiful syrian hookah. It was very simple and very sleek at the same time. I see a plastic thing at the bottom of the hookah, I asked the owner of the store what it was. He said "C'est un filtre pour quand vous fumez le tobac" which basically means a filter for when you smoke your tobacco. Now, it didn't really make sense so I'm like "Yeah, OK, I'll take it." thinking how quickly I'm going to cut this mofo off. I gave it to my friend who insisted we go for its first smoke. We put in some Al Amir bubble gum and put the water at the line that the store owner suggest. We started smoking and once it was started, we were completely amazed! It didn't filter the smoke, but muffled the noise that the water normally makes. You don't feel the bubbles nor do you hear them, it was truly bizarre and fantastic at the same time. I know it's a long thread about our new hookah but I thought you guys, unless it's already been talked about, would like to hear this new (to me) hookah experience.Jon

Sounds like a diffuser to me.

Drowning, drowning in beautiful, silky Kashmir Peach smoke...mmmm!Oh...oh I mean...I've seen those items before. My friend and loyal addict, Jeff, made one. Mahmon hookahs have an extra projection that reduces turbulence and bubbling (so I'm told). Should work to put a piece of fabric rubber-banded but "baggy" on it. I haven't tried it, but Jeff said it seemed to work pretty well.

Like mush said, there have been a couple threads on them in the past.
Some people also claim that the diffusers also filter better because of
the smaller bubbles, in addition to silencing the noise. Has to do with
surface area and whatnot. It made sense when spelt out to me, but I
don't really remember exactly what was said.

I wouldn't mind picking one of those up just to reduce the bubbles
alone... On a few of my hookahs, if you fill the water level a smidge
too high, the water from the bubbling will get up into the hose...
Might have to rig up one for myself ;)

I remember seeing that thread as well, but not seeing anything I could use, or else it would have been made already :)

Just gotta look around my pops garage for something I can use.

I wish there was more room from the bottom of the stem on my Stargate
to the bottom of the base. Theres only about an inch, maybe an inch and
a half before they touch. If there was a bit more room, I could rig up
a diffuser so that the bubbling wouldn't go up into the hose. Its not a
bad problem, only happends sometimes, but it would be nice to eliminate
it completely.
