drfefe2 Posted July 7, 2008 Share Posted July 7, 2008 The Hookah Gods have met with the Hookah spirits and decided to grant me access to the next stage of Hookah-ing, It is time for my Tangiers Rite of Passage Ceremony, The Final Hookah Frontier. I am about to embark on a great journey and would like to thank this community for helping me perfect my Hookah skills that I will need for this great journey. The saying, "it takes a village to raise a good Hookah smoker", holds very true. As I am about to leave behind most of the other tobaccos, except for your meat and potatoes (Al-Fakher, everyone needs meat and potatoes), I look back on my Hookah training and reminisce of how far I have come to get ready for this journey. I remember my first experience with shisha; Smoking roman strawberry out of a briar pipe, and as the harsh burning smoke ripped through my lungs and throat I uttered these words, "WOW Thats Smooth!" How foolish I was. Then, as I began my training I slowly learned what hookah really is; the soul of a Hookah is hard to grasp but I invite all Apprentices reading this to find out for themselves what it means to be a true Hookah smoker. To care for this sacred object as though it was your kin, to bathe it, to feel what your Hookah feels and understand the vast knowlege that can be found in a Hookah, takes maturity, patience, and self-control. I do not know where my ceremony will take me. I understand that I may never come back from it, but I am ready for the Tangiers ritual. I have decided to ask the Village Elders at MN Hookah for a Shnozberry. If I can prove to them I am ready (an exchange of paper money will be in order), my ceremony will be granted. If I complete this ceremony, I can enter a Master's Apprenticeship, hopefully one day I will become a Master of Shisha. After my ceremony I plan to travel to Melon Blend and Horchata to continue my training and ask a Master Craftsmen to craft me a Khalil Mamoon. The first thing you must learn on your walkabout to find your hookah soul is that one must never stop learning and improving ones self. I wish you luck and harmony on your life experience. A forum brother will initiate me into the world of tangiers and the associated zen state of being (and possible sore lungs) this Thursday. There is a mote of trepadition but I hope to reach this plateau with my head and hookah held high to the clouds as my lungs exhale a warriors cry along with flavored smoke to join it's brothers in the upper echelons of space. May you all have many a good smoke as we work towards the transcendence that only a true lover of hookah may know.
