SuburbanSmoker
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080710/wl_nm/iran_nuclear_dcWell i was checking my email when an article showed in the search box next to the login. "U.S vows to defend its allies" so i check it out." U.S. leaders have not ruled out military options if diplomacy fails to assuage fears about Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran says is only to produce electricity. Israel, which has long been assumed to have its own atomic arsenal, has sworn to prevent Iran from emerging as a nuclear-armed power."Looks like iran is our next point of interest, just like iraq, just like afganistan... Action prompted by fear...wtf is this propoganda bullshit.Any one have some opinions on this? *excuse the launguage, just a little fed up.
thecyrax
I think propaganda bullshit is the perfect way to describe the situation.Sadly, I think there's a great chance we will see a war with Iran in the near future. I'm mostly fearful that it will tear up the entire middle east (especially with Israel involved) as a few countries surrounding Israel will see it as a prime opportunity to attack (being allies with Iran)..... It's not going to be pretty, to say the least.Let's just hope the US can come to its senses and holdback their little caged bulldog known as Israel. (note: no offense to any Israeli members, it's a joke meant to be taken lightly).
Snoopy1966
I like how the article says the Iranian missile testing disturbed the oil prices...The other day I think Bush farted sideways and the price of oil went up.
Apoc Genesis
And there you have it folks, here starts the end of America right here. Start raising chickens and stocking up and food because we are going to be royally fucked if people in power stop living in la-la land and come back to earth. I swear, its like our leaders think we're in some kind of video game. We arent doing so hot on the first few, so we pop in a new one and see how it goes.U.S. "War" Track Record post WWII:Korea: StalemateVietnam: FAILWar on Poverty: FAILWar on Drugs: FAILGulf Wars I/II: WINWar on Terrorism: pending, but looks like FAIL1-4-1 does not a succesful record make. OK so the US has technology up the wazoo and we certainly know how to use it in battle. Then whats up with this record? As far as this current hodgepodge of conflict goes, I think the main reason is that this government has completly lost its moral grounding. First we started off looking for Osama Bin Laden and his buncha crazies. THEN we went after the Taliban.. THEN we added Saddam Hussein. THEN we added the Sunni and Shiite militas that are NOT international terrorists. NOW we're looking at Iran? Our military is tired enough as it is, and id LOVE to see Bush or McCain try to put the draft in to fight Iran. The Iranian government is like that little kid who is walks around demanding people hit him so he can kick their asses back in self defense. If you don't bother them they'll eventually shut up and calm down. But doing the whole "Oh yeah? Well I bet we could kick your ass if you messed with us" thing is not going to work in the long run. These days its not working all to well and our leaders better wisen up before this bullshit gets out of control
AKammenzind
Yeah, I don't see what the problem is. Missiles kick ASS. Hehehe, but in all seriousness... our own government is much more a threat to the American people than anything else foreign or domestic.
SuburbanSmoker
Honestly. You hear of great civilizations coming to an end, usually because of their own faults and corruption. Have to ask ourselves how long its going to take for the american legacy to self destruct on itself due to some stupid politician with a hidden agenda pushing for something that ultimatly fucks us over real hard.If we cant get our arses out of the middle east we are just treading farther and farther into a quagmire. GAH.
Canon
its not just america that is after iran, if you notice israel did a military exercise last month that looks like is practice to bomb iran.
SuburbanSmoker
Well its not about us going after iran at all. Its us defending our "interests" and our allies. and if israel goes after iran and a conflict does break out it will turn from Isreal vs iran to israel and the US vs. iran. and we have all seen how that goes *cough* vietnam *cough*
Canon
israel invaded gaza a few years back, US had nothing to do with that, but your most likely right, if israel bombs iran then the US is probably going to get involved
esheg4ever23
It's funny how Bush sometimes says "America's economy is improving.; America's economy is strong." Someone should just ask him exactly what part of the economy is improving, or I just might be blind or I'm missing something, I don't know. It's a common misconception. The oil economy is strong. The economy economy, oh boy, not good at all.
SuburbanSmoker
Ya we are in a fat recession right now... and oil doesnt help. But hey bush is trying to lift the ban on offshore drilling that has been in place for close to 19 years placed by his father in an attempt to lower the price of oil. We are so lucky to have a president who has amazing ideas. I also heard he wants to make fridays eat cake for lunch days...just a rumor though. TheScotsman
Something to consider is that at this point, with the USA in Iraq, Israel would have to overfly USA controlled airspace to get a strike package to Iran. The USA is not going to allow that to happen, the results of allowing it would be catastrophic. Once the USA leaves Iraq, all bets are off. The strike will happen, at this point I would say it's only a matter of time. Ready for 400$/bbl oil, and a nice hot shooting war with global involvement? If you think the economy is in the bin now, wait for your ration stamps! By the way, did you know the pix Iran released was photoshopped to add weapons that failed to launch the first time around? We don't know about missiles, but they definitely suck at photoshop. What is more humorous is that the whole world fell for it. It has to go down in history as one of the finest propaganda coups ever. From a military standpoint mobile launchers were the way to go in the 1960's, they were hard to spot, and easy to move, Both the USA and USSR have significant cover to conceal them. In this day and age they are not so good. It's hard to hide them in a desert (remember the Scud? these buggers are over double the size) For the most part a small number of armed UAV's in the air makes them dangerous to stand near, and assures them a 1-shot lifespan.(Jane's rates their launch/death ratio at .200 or, out of 10, 2 will launch before being detected & destroyed for the 2-4Km class of solid fuel launch vehicles) In the case of the Shahab 5&6 (taep'o dong) it would be lower, a liquid fuel vehicle is not like launching a bottle rocket, it is stationary, and vulnerable for an extended period pre-launch.Friday is eat cake day, That does sound like the height of GW's planning. Neither of these monkey-ass-clown-looking candidates is any better. Time to storm the Bastille?QUOTE (AKammenzind @ Jul 10 2008, 11:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yeah, I don't see what the problem is. liquidglass
This is a little off topic but I don't feel like replying to everything on this thread.Yes I agree bush is an idiot and overzealous. However, while things seem bad, they always level out. Recession, OK, yes the bush admin caused 98% of it. But I am a firm believer in yin and yang it always balances out. Recession will happen for awhile then the economy will pick back up esp if the next president knows what the hell he's doing. A lot of people didn't like the clinton admin, but a lot more did like it. It was because Clinton knew how to keep the economy strong. He brought our resources over the world back to the US and the economy built upon itself. Bush on the other hand has us spread out so thin we'd make a terrible pb and j sandwich. The economy thrives but instead of thriving within the US it thrives all over the world (war, etc) So no matter what our efforts are it just gets spread out rather than circulating internally.Hope this makes sense, i'm a bit tired.
