filmigeek
Okay, so after reading this thread I decided to try cold water again. I don't want to lose another base (liquidglass, it wasn't so much that I wasn't paying attention as that the base was crappy, but still), so I don't want to use ice. Also my base is really small (am smoking a Mya Gelato Piccolo these days) so there's not a lot of room to have ice and still have a decent amount of water. So no ice.So, I put cool water in the base, and then put the base and stem in the fridge for 1/2 hour or more before smoking.I really liked the results. The flavor may have been slightly less intense - I am not sure - but the smoke was luscious. Thick, cool, refreshing smoke. I've never got such thick white clouds before (am still a total noob, have probably smoked a total of 15 times) and the coolness of the smoke was just wonderful, especially on a warm summer evening. I'm still ice-shy, but I will definitely use this refrigeration method all summer, no doubt.ETA: I tried this twice, once with AF lemon and once with AF cinnamon and it was great both times. MWlax00
okay, i thought that science class taught me was that glass breaks over extreme and quick temp changes. so i figure if my vase was in a 80 deg room in the summer, an i immediately poor ice cold water it would break. so we always gradually increased the water temp by slowly adding ice.this being said, if i put the vase in the freezer, then put icewater in it, and take it out on a hot summer evening, would that break it? or would the temp decrease slowly enough.?
