Sure it's rust? Not Juice from your baccy?

I havent smoked out of it yet, and there are little back dots of orange shit in it, it's def rust.

Is this hose new? Because it takes a while for rust to form. Rust is the oxidation of Iron. Most metals form oxidation states, but the oxidized metal forms the same crystal lattice structure as the pure element, so it isn't a problem. However, when iron forms an oxide it has a different geometry than raw iron metal, so pieces of iron oxide break off and expose more of the metal surface for oxidation to occur, continuing the process. It requires both water and oxygen (air) for rusting to occur. And it isn't a quick reaction. If the hose is brand new, I highly doubt it would have rusted already.

well i rinsed it out like 6-7 times with water, and nothing came out. I haven't used it since then, and now today I gave it another rinse b/c it smelt funny, and that shit came out of it. So you tell me what you think it is.

I can't tell you with 100% certainty it isnt rust. It could be a lot of things though. I rinsed all kinds of crap out of my nammor. Give it some time to dry, and try breathing through it. If it tastes bad, I'd call them. I can't tell you exactly what it is, I'm just trying to explain how rust forms and that in most situations, it would be highly unlikely for rust to form so quickly. That said, if it were stored someplace humid, it could have rusted before you even got it.

i agree with greek, rust cannot form that fast. That being said, since you rinsed it and nothing came out before when you first got it then it isnt rust. could be plastic, could be dye.

But its the question of is it worth taking a chance for potentially causing a health risk to yourself? I think not...air on the side of saftey and send that back.

Ok fellas here is the deal. I spoke with George from thehookah, let me tell you guys, this guy means serious business when it comes to customer service. Was very polite, listened to me babble and chew his ear off about tons of products and things and what not, and let me choose what I wanted to do. Whether it be swap the hose for something else, get store credit, get a full refund, w/e I wanted he was cool with. He was told by KM that they were washable, obviously he is going to listen to the company that produces the product. So he informed me as well as others that called from the forum that they were washable. George said it would be cool if instead of returning the hose (keep in mind he was going to pay for the shipping) I could cut it open. So these photos are being put up as a learning experience for all of us to know for future purchases that the KM Pro is not washable. You can see the metal coils rusting already from 2 different washes. Technically I guess you could say its washable, but if you wash something or do routine maintenance to it, and it begins to corrode ... IMHO it ain't washable. Here are the shots

You can see the orange spot, there was spots like that all over the thing, if you rubbed your hand against the coil it was griddy and starting to corrode.

Once again I want to thank George at thehookah because he was willing to do whatever it took to make/keep me happy. He reiterated over and over on the phone that it's always a learning experience, and all he ever wants from his customers is for them to happy and he will do whatever it takes for that to happen.

TheHookah.com, you guys are the shit, if anyone on this forum wants to buy something, and it is on thehookah.com, and you want to support an honest and hard working company, buy from them you will not be dissapointed!

It doesnt even say the hose is washable on the site. I think you read into it that it was washable because it was KM gear and it looked like a nammor. The nuances are always in the fine print...or in this case, lack thereof.

Me and OC both called as well as some others on the forum, and thehookah told us the "KM PRO Hoses were indeed washable" and they are not

And thats why I am getting my money back.

Why did you wash it out when you got it at first anyway? When I got my new hose I didnt wash it and it didnt taste off or anything. I think the materials would dictate if the hose was washable or not. I could see the convo between thehookah and Khalil Mamoun going like this....

Thehookah: Yea, I just need to know real quick if these KM Pro hoses we got in stock today are washable.

KM: Yea we wash

Thehookah: So they are made from materials we can wash and run water through them and all that?

KM: Yea, yea we wash, all the materials, we wash. All clean.

Thehookah: Yeaaaaa, ok. Thanks. We'll pass it along.

KM: Thank you for calling Microsoft, have a wonderful day.

Thehookah: Hey wai... *dial tone*

Bingo, because it smelt like crap. Smelt like nasty plastic. When you buy a hookah you wash it because there is shit in it from the welding process etc. or at least you should wash it before you use it. And the hose like most hoses smelt like shit, so if it's washable I'd prefer to wash it before use.
