egyptian and syrian

Recommended Posts

On a typical egyptian hookah, the bowl will actually go OVER the stem,
while on a syrian, the bowl will fit INTO the stem. This is the main
obvious difference between egyptian and syrian. Other than that, there
are just different styles used. Hookahs in the different regions of the
middle east all have their own style, which ones I'm not really sure,
but the only difference that I know of for sure is the bowl.

As for screw-ins, I'm pretty sure there are screw-in bases for both
syrian and egyptian hookahs, just depends on what manufacturer you are
buying from. I have a hookah that has a screw-in base, the Stargate
Hookah. But I can't really help you out by telling you what type of a
hookah it is, because it is a combination of egyptian, syrian AND
modern.

The reason for being both egyptian and syrian is because it comes with
an adapter which allows me to use either a egyptian bowl or syrian.
Gravity holds Egyptian ones tight.
I have no expierence with Syrian hookahs so this is just out of my personal ignorance, but...couldn't you say the same thing about the Syrians?

The only thing that's keeping me from flying across this table is...gravity!Well done, Soup. A worthy Bon Mot!I've seen it, it doesn't happen all the time or even very frequently, it happens if the head or the gaskets are the wrong size or one side of the bowl is extra-heavy (?) If brand X never has a problem like that and Brand Y has a problem very rarely, wouldn't we still go with X? Is there anything that makes Egyptian heads disadvantageous?
