ronald_dooley
I got my small tangiers phunnel today, w00t! It is white and sky blue in color. One thing I noticed is that it is only glazed on the handle... the bowl part is bare ceramic, but smooth, like the inside of a MYA ceramic bowl. I noticed that most other peoples' tangiers phunnel bowls are glazed all over (except inside the stem). This doesn't effect the smoking experience, but the bare ceramic will stain and will eventually turn brown after I use it a lot. It is very solidly made and lovely to look at.Before even taking the chance of letting my dumb ass ruin the experience, I spent half the morning researching and reading posts on this forum. Special thanks go to voski for his instructional video on how to pack AF in a phunnel. It helped a lot. I packed some AF honey/melon mix per voski's video, foiled with Reynold's HD, and made three rings of toothpick-sized holes. I have a glass scalli mod from MNHookah, too, but I decided not to use it. I used three coco naras to get it started, then dropped down to two... and then added the third again towards the end of the session. One word: Wow. The best smoking experience I have ever had. The smoke was sooo thick and tasty. I've never had a session like this with my other bowls (egyptian clay, MYA ceramic, tangiers small Superchief). Heat management was a breeze. I don't know how the science works, but for some reason, the phunnel lets you get very big clouds without burning your shisha... and the clouds just keep coming and coming! I had to stop to eat dinner, lol. And you don't have to move the coals around very much.If you are on the fence about buying a phunnel, go get one! I don't think I'm ever going to use another bowl.- Ronald

ronald_dooley
yo Code! Are your phunnels glazed all over? After seeing all the pics of peoples' phunnels on this forum, I'm under the impression that all of them are glazed on the bowl. It doesn't seem to affect the smoke, but bare ceramic is very hard to clean.
OC4111
wait 'til you get a glass jet phunnel.
ronald_dooley
Here's a pic of my new small phunnel from MNHookah (great company, by the way). As you can see, half the glazing seems to be missing, and the inside of the bowl is bare ceramic. Thoughts?

cheezerman
My Large and Medium phunnel are both glazed on the inside like so:I'd imagine the glaze wouldn't affect your smoking experience, besides staining.Grats on the phunnel though! ronald_dooley
I just smoked my Starbuzz Blue Mist from my new phunnel, and I have to say that I am now appreciating this shisha for the first time. I had a good, smooth smoke all night. I smoked it for a few hours before dinner, and then smoked it for another hour or more while watching a movie afterward. I could keep smoking, if I wanted to. The flavor was actually there and not burned, and the clouds were thick. I had to be a little more careful with the heat management than AF shisha, but no complaints at all.I did not use the scalli mod, and I don't think I'll be using that very much, at all. The Phunnel rocks. Best damn hookah invention imho.- Ronald Edited July 12, 2008 by ronald_dooley

This hardness eventually turns into annoying-ness lol.
