ronald_dooley
The second time I used my new phunnel from MNHookah, I added the glass scalli mod from MNHookah. It is a piece of glass shaped like the copper mod originally designed by Scalliwag of YouTube fame, hence the name "scalli" mod.Thankfully for me, the scalli mod is another topic that has been discussed to death in these forums, giving us n00bs a lot of experience to draw upon before we screw things up for ourselves out of sheer ignorance. Case in point: Apparently, the glass scalli mod gets caked with burnt shisha juice during smoking that is very difficult to remove afterwards. Many posters suggested coating the mod with a thin film of oil before using. I took their advice and wet a small piece of paper towel with olive oil and lightly coated all surfaces of the mod before smoking. Sure enough, the oil protected the mod and all the shisha grime just washed off under the sink! No scrubbing or soaking-in-bleach-for-a-day necessary. As for the experience itself, I smoked Fumari Cherry, which was given to me as a free sample by Tarik at MNHookah. I placed the mod inside the phunnel and piled the shisha around it. I made sure that the mod was sitting firmly but still had good airflow. The top of the mod sits higher than the rim of the phunnel bowl, so it makes it a little weird when foiling and placing coals. The mod definitely reduces the amount of shisha you need to use. It takes up a lot of space in a small phunnel, and I estimate that I only used half the shisha I normally would, with the mod taking up space. As far as the mod improving the smoke session.... I am not convinced. It didn't "wow" me in any way.I would advise you to get a mod only if you want to save shisha. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to actually do much for the smoking experience.- Ronaldp.s. - Fumari sucks

Its great in my small phunnel if I am smoking alone, or if its my girlfriend and I and I know she is going to fall asleep.I had not read about the oil. I need to do that cause it is impossible to clean.
hookah hippie
It is a pain to clean the mod but I find it quite a useful addition to my phunnel.
