MechAnt
Benching is the dumbest way of measuring any sort of strength, it means nothing.I don't measure my bench weight by whatever is heaviest I can do but by what I can rep at least 5 times. I do 180lbs. My absolute highest I've done was 210. For the most part, I don't do heavy lifting really but more toning and keeping up strength and flexibility because of my martial arts. Flexibility is the one thing I want to keep regardless of strength.

Big Boss
My bench was never very high considering how big I am: around 340 pounds. My squat and leg press, however, were through the roof, around 650 to 700 pounds.

Jeff_T
I've just got back into lifting, well in January, after a 3 year hiatus so not very impressive. I'm 6'1", 220. Still have yet to find my 1RM but can rep 225 10 times... For everyone that lifts, what does your "program/schedule" look like? Split programs, etc? And supersets FTW, but damn they're a killer... I love supersetting about 60degree flys with flat bench Edited July 15, 2008 by Jeff_T

Ralleac
I haven't done a max. in years, but I do 235 for 4-6 during my current work outs. I tend to focus more on deadlifts and squats, though. I think I weigh around 180 now, but it might be less since I've been running like crazy for the past few months.

vaypourus
My safe zone is around 150. I'm 5'11", 190 lbs, and around 8% body fat. I have a medium build, just quiting a manual labor job, and in top shape.Unfortunately kids, when you hurt yourself benching, it never comes back the same. When I was in my younger 20s, I hurt my shoulder a bit doing concrete. Later that day, I hit the bench like the asshat that I was. It wasn't until after a few sets that I realized my shoulder was no longer staying in the socket. The pain didn't hit me until the next day...I damaged the ligaments to the point that I lost most of the forward arm strength that I had. its all healed up now, but it pops into and out of the socket at will. No more benching, no more butterflys, no cowgirl position sex with exceptionally fat women.Respect your bodies...they are more fragile than you think. Bulldog_916
I could bench 185 in HS and I was 164. Now I like doing lighter weights more reps. Do 60lbs 15 times, then 30lbs 30 times, and then 60lbs 15 again. Fucking kills me. I dont go for bulk because once it fades you look like shit. Stay toned and it just keeps like that.
