Its bad enough to think, ok, how much in gas is this going to cost me to go somewhere. But hookah is something I enjoy doing. Whether is a dollar a session or 5 dollars a session. It's one of my few pleasures. Moral of the story, leave the calculations to the hookah-bar industry. Unless you are an accountant, or just anal about this shit. Nah... I think it is important to know how much you are spending on anything you do every day.Do you calculate how much it costs to brush your teeth every day? LOL... come on, man. What does a tube of toothpaste cost? $2.00? And it lasts for months.

But I think its a little rediculous to factor in water and electricity to heat coals.
j3oomerang
maybe calculating how much you spend a session is anal, but how much you spend a month isnt.

I agree 100%.I think the utilities people are brining up only cost a few cents, all told... and you would use them anyway, so maybe they don't even factor in, at all. I think it's only rational to limit the calculation to shisha and coals. I don't even think you should factor in the hookah/hose/bowl because those are not constants that fit into a model and cannot predictably be divided by the total number of sessions. After all, how many sessions do you get out of a hookah? If you pay $100 for a good hookah and you use it every day for 20 years, it would factor to $0.01 per session. If you use it for 1 session and then it breaks, it factors to $100 per session.I think it's only reasonable to stick to calculating the cost of coals and shisha. I mean, if you want to get into serious economic modelling, you could factor in the opportunity cost of not working during the hookah session. If you are a skilled painter and you could be making $20/hr during those 3 hours... then your total cost is $60+coals+shisha/session. But I think we all agree that that's taking it a bit far. Canon
i thought about that too. but you have to think about what you would be doing if you werent smoking hookah, would you actually be painting? going to a movie? or maybe to a bar. maybe smoking hookah is preventing you from going to a bar which could save you money. That's actually a damn good point. I think you're right. I think I save a hell of a lot of money by staying home and smoking my hookah and watching DVDs rented from the library. Because otherwise, I'd be out drinking, clubbing, spending money on women, etc. What's an evening on the town cost? metro to the city = $1.35, happy hour drinks = $10.00, club cover = $15.00, drinks at the club = $30.00, drinks for random hoes and bros = $20 (if you buy like 2 drinks!), late night drunk food = $10, cab home = $20... and all that is not even including various tips and stuff. melanko
If this is the kinda shit you're thinking about when smoking, then I believe just doing math problems for an hour and a half will be less harmful to your health.

Giant Ninja Robot
i believe melanko is saying "math is less hazardous to your health than hookah smoking".i disagree i dunno guys i think it's good to be fiscally responsible but you gotta let life's simple pleasures just be sometimes. Unless you're spending an astronomical amount of $ and smoking like a chimney. Then it might be an issue. Aren't most of us broke ass college age kids anyway? Codename067
The funny thing, I never thought about how much my sessions cost/sitting. Even if my sessions start costing more than fu*king gas prices, I will still smoke up.
