Sariél
So I decided to experiment, since Tangiers said he wouldn't do clove flavour because of the psychoactive qualities of cloves. I took some cloves, ground them into powder with my coffee grinder, and mixed it with corn syrup ( glycerin would probably work better, but I haven't got around to getting any yet) and mixed it with some GF Apple. I'm not sure which apple, as it says Golden Al Fahker and the rest is in Arabic. It was GREAT! It did have a little extra bite to it, just like a clove cigarette. Next time I'll probably use less clove. I've also found that I can buy powdered clove in little plastic bags at the local grocery store. THey keep it with the Mexican spices, with the corn husks and dried peppers, instead of with the McCormick stuff (you know, garlic salt, all that stuff. No headaches, hallucinations, or side effects, just a good clove/apple flavour. Now on to the Hershey's chocolate syrup, or maybe shredded ginger. jesu5
my friend was once trying to quit smokeing malrbro's and was sublimating with hookah, and the quit smokeing gum. One day we were both very tired, and silly... and ground up his nicorett gum in the coffee grinder and mixed it with some mint in our hookah. I've never head a bigger headach. HookahDuck
hmm... that actually sounds interesting. Out of curiosity, what sort of effects does clove have?

I once ground fresh mint leaves into the hookah but the burn on the back of my throat was so bad i had to stop mid session.
Sonthert
I make a chocolate flavor...its very big in Germany...I had a German once ask:"You make more flavors than just chocolate?"Any watery or water-based product will not work too well. I'll save the engineering and chemistry reasons why...
Sonthert
So I decided to experiment, since Tangiers said he wouldn't do clove flavour because of the psychoactive qualities of cloves.
OK, OK...stop doing silly, dangerous things and I'll see if there's a comercially produced clove flavor on the market that has the psychotropic principles removed. tjt486
Im not sure what all this hogwash is about the psychoactive stuff, sounds intersting if not fun....Ill add another flavor that didnt work so well, thats a swisher sweet (tobacco removed from the wrap...hey I work there so I have more cigars around here than I know what to do with...) mixed with some honey. Tasted pretty horrible, but as one of my first hookah experienced my "hookah buddy" told me honey flavor was great.
Sariél
Yes, my first experiment was with Zaghoul, cinnamon, and Goldschlager. That was painful. Zag and Torani cinnamon syrup was an improvement. The apple/clove from above is good enough that I made another and premixed a few more bowls. Sonthert
Water based syrups generally are going to drive the ambient vaporization temperature down to painfully low levels and solvate all the really good flavors such that they are lost in the jar. Translation: if it has water in it, the water will boil first, at a lower temperature and the sweeter, nicer flavors get lost in the water. For the record, I stated, to somebody, that cloves contained myricystin. That is not correct, nutmeg contains myricystin a non-aminated pre-cursor of a MDMA-like chemical. My apologies. We all make mistakes and I hope that this hasn't caused any trouble to anybody. I belive cloves still contain a psychoactive principle, but I will research it. I'm not an ethnobotanist...I just dabble in BS.
