Iranian Al-ajami Shisha Experience

Recommended Posts

I got ahold of some Al-Ajami shisha from Iran a while back . It comes completely dry and loose leafed in a square pack. Put some in a bowl and even though its to be used with no foil, I chose to put foil down. Immediately upon smoking my lungs alsmost burst! And rightaway had a great nicotine rush. Well I should have "washed" it first. Has to have some moisture if there is no glycerin, molasses and flavour. I put the rest in a plastic bag made a small hole at the buttom and rinsed the bag once letting the water out, then squeezed most of the water but not all leaving a clump of shisha. This I broke up ,put in a bowl with foil and smoked. It was still strong though 1/3 as much but wasn't scorching at least. Nice tobacco flavour. If its still too strong it can be rinsed twice.

I really enjoyed Al Ajami....their Mint was a REALLY nice 'tasting' flavor. And I believe its from UAE, not Iran. I used to have 50g Samplers of it..Arabic was written on it. Their peach was reallllly nice too.

Hmm some confusion here.

I speak of the brand 'Al Ajami'

I thought that's what we were speaking of lol

My friend came back from Iran and brought some Al Ajamy flavors back with him.

Lets face it, there is Al-AJami and then Al-Ajamy. Al -Ajami is only dry non flavoured and its from Iran.I bought in Jerusalem last month, came by way of Iran ti Iraq to Jordan to Jerusalem. Al-Ajamy is not a Persian name, but Arabic and it is flavoured of course.

I hope you were not expecting huge smoke off this shisha..... in Iran what they typically do is put the still wet shisha down and lay a handfull or so of coal on top and sloowwwly smoke it taking small puffs and just enjoying the flavor.

It's kind of strange, I'd definitely call it an acquired taste.

You can do this with cigarette tobacco if you are out of anything else. Pipe tobacco would work great. Just make sure it's rinsed, try a little and if too strong, rinse again. And don't make my mistake of letting some stay 5 days in a closed plastic box. You'll be reminded of your petri dish experience in biology-mold.

yeah seems like if you tried smoking straight tobacco without it being at least a little damp it would be torched
