Not Enough Hookah Lately :o(

So I have been on the road a lot, playing lots of gigs during the week also. To hard to bring a Hookah to open jams and other places where we play for a couple hours. I have been smoking black cloves and yesterday I lost my voice, and today it is even worse. I gotta sing tonight too Does smoking cloves do this to anyones else? Maybe I am smoking to many of them in a night, or maybe all the cig smoke in the clubs and bars?? I love my Hookah and I need some sort of nicotine fix while I am out. Any other ideas out there to help out? This weekend will be tough because we play in town here tonight and then in the UP of Mich tomorrow. I will bring my Hookah, but I doubt I will be able to smoke it. At least we play in town here tonight and I can come home and smoke my Hookah.

Well, cloves have eugenol which is a numbing agent that allows for clove cigarettes to be inhaled relatively easily. Never had cloves destroy my voice but I will say I get a heavy feeling from them and I can feel SOMETHING the next day. They are known to have the highest tar of any sort of cigarette on the market next to bidis. I recommend a regular cigarette or menthols although, maybe a couple a day because it will hurt the throat of a non seasoned smoker. Nicorette is good too

DUDE cloves are horrible for you. absolutely horrible. move to primetimes or backwoods if you are looking for a flavored smoke. I sing all the time while i jam with my buds while smoking backwoods. maybe something a little lighter will help ya out if ya need to smoke.

I know when I used to smoke bidis my throat the next day would be all jacked up. Nothing like the smoothness of a hookah.

I know what its like to need the fix, although Cloves are really heavy and hard on the lungs. Being in a smoking bar for that long is hard on the throat, but smoking cloves doesn't help. Try switching to a lighter cigarrette. Edited July 25, 2008 by greeknate88

I'd agree w/ everyone else, cloves are bad bad, go with a lighter cig if you need a quick nic fix.

Anyways, I have no idea what primetimes are, but backwoods are those cheap cigars that come in a foil pouch and are flavored. My recommendation, stick with cigarettes over cheap cigars.

they are really good tasty cigars, i smoke them at friends bonfires and have no problems the next day. And they burn for a long time.

the flavored ones are quite tasty.

All I smoke is Tangiers, so yeah I am used to my nicotine. Any recommended flavors of the Backwood cigars??

I'd just straight say, Camel Menthol Lights and/or Camel Turkish Silver/Gold/Royal. Those are my regular smokes and many people that bum off of me who don't smoke regularly talk about how smooth it is compared to many other cigs on the market. The Turkish line is so smooth you dont feel yourself inhaling.

I prefer cheap cigars over cigarettes, so it all depends on what snoopy prefers. I think the cheap cigars taste good and they don't taste gross like butts. But i will give the turkish line props, they are 1 of the few cigs i'll smoke, the silvers are so light they feel like you are inhaling nothing and then you randomly get a buzz.

My Leila is Dead The glass broke somehow. I set up my Hookah and have the hose on a Boom stand so I can smoke. I only do that in a place we play Friday and Sat. We have to break down both nights this weekend. Great paying Gigs this weekend though! So Hookah is not an option having to break down each night. Need to get home to sleep because we gotta travel about 120 miles tomorrow and they are an hour ahead of us. Break down and travel back home. Maybe I will have to use the Bambino and make a foil protector around the bowl so I can smoke while driving. I will smoke Hookah in my new vehicle, it does not stink it up!

okay here's the deal, i'm the lead singer of a indie/rock band. so im always in and out of bars and venues always smoking cigs because i don't have a hookah with me =/
so what i've tended to do is this:

day of show i only smoke about 6-8 cigs throughout the day, non menthol marlboro no. 27. they are very smooth and pretty tasty.
drink lots of water snoop, i mean lots. no pop! pop dehydrates you and fucks with your phlem.
on days that i cant smoke hookah cause im out all night i smoke marlboro smooths, which taste very minty, but have a much higher nicotine level than most cigarettes.
so i smoke fewer of those because the need for that much more nicotine has been met via fewer cigs.

now when im not playing shows i smoke alot! whether it be hookah or cigs i just smoke alot in general.

so this is just my two cents.

cut open a djarum black, see that clear-ish super thick cloth like paper? yea thats what make the clove so smooth...yep after i saw that i decided to stop smoking cloves.

Primetimes are quite tasty. Peach and Cinnamon would be my recommendations, I haven't had backwoods but I usually smoke primetimes when I'm not near my hookah or when I go out.

Yeah that could be it while I am playing out. I drink some soda and lots of water and Gatorade. This past week I drank too much soda. My lungs feel better today and I tried some of the Camel Turkish cigs and some Marb 27's. Thanks for the info!!

Nat Sherman Classic Mints/New York Cut Mints or American Spirit Menthol lights. They are just regular tobacco with mint in the filter, not like a menthol Camel or something made with chemicals...

I have seen the American Spirits here but not Nat Sherman Classic Mints/New York Cut Mints. Maybe they have them at the Cigar and Tobacco shop here. I know I can get the American Spirits at most gas stations here.
