What Should Spent Shisha Look Like?

Recommended Posts

I know what a bad bowl tastes like - but what would the shisha look like after it has been fully spent? That is smoked out? If the bowl was a good bowl that is.

Forgive the noob questions. When I finished what I felt was a very good bowl, the cake on the bottom of the bowl was black but very hard. Like a crispy, aromatic cookie. It was not chared. There was not burned smell. But it was so black it looked like coal. Is this what I should expect? Or is black too dark and I over heated the shisha?

I was smoking nakhla cardamom. I thought it tasted just great and the smoke was good and fluffy. But, then again, a pro might think my bowl sucked lol

To the OP, a good bowl will be blackened and dry on the top and fairly dry througout. This means that your shisha burned evenly and you were smoking the wetness out over a few good hours.

A bad session usually ends early with blackened, dry shisha on top, but lots of wet shisha on the bottom. This usually means a bad packing job or bad heat management or both.

this is not always true. you can pack fine and if you dont smoke long enough youll have charred tops, wet bottoms...doesn't mean its a bad session or bad packing job.

you gotta smoke tangiers for like 7 hours in a small phunnel to get it to be actually dry throughout.
