i beleive common is open like on a mya, you can put your fingers inside the chamber so to speak. In a traditional it is not open it's closed with 2 holes at the bottom 1 hole for hose and 1 hole for purge. This makes it difficult to clean but well worth it, i just use q-tips to dry and clean mine. A common you kind of have it put water in it seal the openings for the hose and purge and shake it around.

Both have pros and cons, i now prefer traditional I find it more functional in my experiences.

I highly prefer traditional.

Traditional is much nicer in my opinoin and clears way better then any common chambered hookah I have used
