Hi guys I expericing some problems with my mya-qt and wondered if you guys and gals had any suggestions.

1. The ball bearings tend to get stuck when intially I start smoking, have to bang it loose also when during smoking it tends to get stuck have to pull harder. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

2. When I take the first puff I tend to get ash in my mouth never had this problem before. I clean the hookah inside and out expect I don't clean the inside of the hose with water. Question is not cleaning the hose cause of the issue?
Is it safe to run water in the hose?

I'd say the "ash" you are getting might be from the hose itself. Is the ash a dark brown color? If you've run water through your hose before, and if it's not washable, it very well could be rust.

About the ball bearing, you should consider cleaning it with a damp papertowel after each use. Also check to see if there's any buildup in the purge valve area.

after a good amount of sessions the ball bearings start to collect gunk, simply unscrew your purge valve take it out and give it a good scrubbing. As for your tasting ash problem, i'd suggest running water down your hose get a funnel or something if you dont have a removable hose piece.

Blow out your hose before and after every smoking session...it could just be smoke residue buildup or rust.

Clean your purge valve and ball bearing. Use a towel and compressed air. Purge the hookah before lighting to make sure it's loose.

Smaller mya's tend to pop water up a lot into the purge. I switched all my bearings out with air pellets... it works great.

Air soft BBs for the win. It is more about keeping your purge clean, and its just a maintenance task you need to do ever once in a while.

And if it is rust coming out of your hose for god sakes get a new one! and make sure its washable.

You can always buy a new purge/bearing from Mya, or use a synthetic AirSoft pellet for your bearing. Both will work for ya.

As for the hose, Mya hoses ARE NOT washable. The insides of them will rust, and the "ash" you're experiencing is most likely rust. This happens from me from time to time. I've finally given up on washing out the hose before each session; instead, when it starts spitting ash, I go out and buy a new hose. It's a pain, but it works for me.
