I noticed that 80%(what I've seen) have been noobs...the others are ones that haven't been around since before the implementation of chat....time for frequent rules pop-ups like spam tongue.gif

i repete..maybe people shoudl read the rules when they join a forum. People want to be treated like adults, they better start acting like adults. People want to be treated like children who need their hands held to do everything and to be told how to do everything every time..then we should just shut down the forum.

At what point in the registration process do new members even see the forum rules? When I joined I didn't take the time to read them, which may be happening here. In my opinion, you mods shouldn't have to be working so hard to keep the forum clean. Two days isn't enough. Telling people to read the rules isn't enough. Most people won't read the rules until it's too late and they're banned and you're fed up. People are only making suggestions because they hate seeing this crap as much as you.

Oh, I understand and appriciate the suggestion, really. I belive there is something that says you agree to follow the rules of the forum or some such. I don't want to make it harder for the 9 out of 10 people whop are perfectly able to follow the rules. I guess having to deal with the other 10% is part of being a mod/admin. I guess it's why we still NEED mods. As with everything, you learn to take the good with the bad. Doesn't mean we can't bitch about it now and then...venting is a useful thing. wink.gif

Maybe I have a defective gene or something, but I just joined this forum a couple of days ago....and I actually read the forum rules. It's pretty much common sense and the same type of rules apply to 95% of all forums in existense. The only thing that is really specific to this forum are the rules relating to the mention of nht. Seemed plain enough to me. As a newb, here is my perspective...

A month without chat seems kinda long. I haven't used the chat yet, but I will soon. I would think a week or two would be enough time to get to know the forum well enough to not be stupid and determine if this was "your kind of place".

Although probably tounge-in-cheek, the suggestion about making newbs take a quiz is interesting, but probably hard to impliment. Scenario : Not sure what your software is capable of, but some forum software is capable of sending confirmation emails before joining, often requiring you to click on a link to complete the registration process. When a newb tries to join, they are sent a confirmation email with a link to a page with 5 or 6 true/false questions about the forum rules they must respond to correctly in order to join. Then you KNOW they are at least aware of the rules and have been told the rules are taken seriously.

Like mushrat said, as with everything, you learn to take the good with the bad.

First off he admits to being both underage and living in the US
second he starts talking about NHT about 1 second after i log into chat - NinjaRobot witnessed it.

He's gone - for good.

OMG this was priceless. I'm not making fun of the kid but I was lurking and checked chat and thought "wait a second....JD just logged onto chat..... and he decided that was the time to make a drug reference?". It's like seeing a policeman with a radar gun and speeding up....
