5 day suspension just handed out for this violation. Keep it up all and you will see chat go bye bye. It is not worth this if some members can not freakin grow up and use their common sense...obviously I guess they do not have any....

Yes it is wpw. Well it went from 3 days and now 5 days will be handed from now on, and I do not think a filter would help, people would be typing in the words then...to see them get blanked out.

Maybe it was better with Chat located off-forum.

It is looking like it might have to go back to that. Maybe I will contact EL and see if I can buy the chat from him.

hfc is still up and running when I checked last night

I am all for getting rid of the chat for a while on the forums so we do not have to deal with it. This stuff really is getting very very old. It is such a great tool to have so members can help others, to bad there has to be so many that may just ruin it for us all or even as Mush has stated, it might just make it be the closure of Hookah Forums because the jail house lawyers are on top of all this stuff.

that was my suggestion in the premium subforum thread. I think having a min post number (or if possible - premium should overrule post count) would ensure that people in chat are those that WANT to be part of the community. people who come in and don't just chat away without ever reading the rules or learning the standard code of conduct that you learn in your first 50-100 posts.

Sure, for many people they 'get it' in under 50, but at least we can weed out the chat spammers and the fly by night kids who sign up, put a few lame "+1" style posts and then crap all over chat.

We could make it so that only those with +xx posts can use chat.

But we need Admin todo it (read : not mushrat)

+1 Lets do this! What if we did like 50 posts and/or a member for a year plus?

The minimum posts at least keeps all but the biggest post whores out of chat the first week or two they are on the forum - which should give them time to understand the 'culture' of this place and get to know the rules a little better.

Its a good idea but there are people like me, i only just joined the community and REALLY want to be a part of it, spend alot of time in chat

but my post count is not high yet

steve

I'm going to echo what this fellow said here. Many of you chat junkies can most likely testify, that I spend more time in chat than I do in the forums. It's primarily how I contribute. I do suppose though, if some rules were put in place, it would encourage me to be more of a contributor on the forums (and there's nothing wrong with that.)

So either way, it's probably a win/win situation.

I think encouraging you to become more of a forum contributor is a good thing - but again you've been here longer than I, so you may have passed the "length of membership" limit. smile.gif

As for steve - get posting dude! Forums don't grow when everyone sits on chat and never posts. Forums become communities when active membership contributes to the forums to help each other.

We could just start publically announcing where to find these people that are violating via their IP and then local forum members can go flog the f*ck outta them with a halibut
