Sonthert
No actually they're all synonyms. Also, 1,2,3 trihydroxypropane (IUPAC) would be the official chemistry name. Many chemicals have trace contaminants that are nearly impossible to remove, they are most commonly water, oxygen or Carbon Dioxide. Its hard to keep air out. Sometimes trace contaminants are so "similar" to the chemicals in question, they won't leave. Glycerin is hydrophillic, so it won't be convinced not to have a little water. We could make 100% pure, but it'll just absorb water, when we open it up to the air.
Sonthert
Mint residue is particularly pesky. Use my recommendation for 10:1 rubbing alcohol in water (10 water, 1 rubbing alcohol) for better results. Rinse, very well. Allow to air-dry for an hour, if possible. pavlakos_politakos
sorry about the typo sariel.my typing skills kinda suck.lol.and since this thread is about glycerin im sure everyone understood.but thanks for pointing it out.
MR Bubble
Okay, here's an update on the glycerin. I did scrub my machine out the other night with the baking soda (sorry Tangiers, I didn't read your post before hand) and it worked good with the strawberry. I had a bowl of Nakhla apple with 3 or 4 drops of glycerin and it worked fine. It was pretty dr even after those drops, so I probably needed a couple more in it. It just didn't seem to have that Nakhla apple "classic punch." Maybe it's just too far gone. So now, I can get on with my sampling of alen's Serb flavors and then get on to the samples of Tangiers. Looking forward to it all, but I just don't seem to smoke as much these days. Seems my Nakhla isn't the same as I used to get in Egypt. It's just too mild for some reason, and I don't like the overly-sweet "cartoonish premium brands," so I just don't bother much now. Pitty. Sonthert
When you add glycerine, it will dilute the flavor, so it may very well lose its "punch" I would dare say, Tangiers is not a cartoonish brand, I know what you mean, thats why I made my tobacco the way it is. I hope you like it and its worth the rare smoking times you still have.
Donkeema
or how bout you just use good old HONEY ? - i just drizzle on alot and then fly through the session with huge clouds of smoke! and i cant taste it aswell and its not going to burn a hole in my pocket!! dizzing
off topic, but thanks for pointing that out tangiers - 1,2,3-trihydroxypropane... it never fails to amaze me how chemically simple some of the most common compounds are in organic chemistry. makes me wanna go back and take the 2nd semester of it, but that whole GCMS stuff REALLY turned me off.... ugh. identifying functional groups by peaks on a squiggly ass line- no thanks
pavlakos_politakos
ive tried honey in my ma'assel.pretty thick white smoke i must say but it never occured to me after that.(im an idiot)

I look forward to sampling it and doing my famous MR Bubble reviews with nose-hitability ratings (you DID consider nose-hitability, didn't you?). I just want to work on the Serbleti since it's such a challenge. But yours will be next. Cheers, MR Bubble

Or hillbilly, I forget. The nasal discharge of Kashmir is exceptional, moreso than other stuff I've reverse smelled.Yeah Diz, Chemistry is a trip, I worked at a DuPont Research subsidiary for awhile. Analytical is a real pain...NMRs, IR and spin-decoupled C-13 NMR use to drive me up a collective wall. Not to mention HPLC.AS a side point, the main solvent for food, beverage and hookah flavors is propylene glycol, 1,2 dihydroxypropane. One extra hydroxy group makes it taste sweet and one less makes it an excellent solvent. Propylene glycol is used as antifreeze in breweries and daries because its so eminantly safe. I think its slightly safer than drinking water, the LD50 is around 19L. One less carbon and we have the poisonous 1,2-dihydroxyethane or ethylene glycol or antifreeze, which is still sweet.
