SMOKE
Probably not cos i broke my hookah bottle and substituted it with a flower vase! The weird thing is, it smokes better than the original glass!
HookahDuck
Many people have done what you have. However, I would recomend that you get a a transparent vase so that you can see your water level. It also appears that you have the opposite end of your hose stuffed into the stem. Why is that? jmexx
What probably makes more smoke was the lucky guess in how much water he put . I would super-glue a flat board to that sucker 'cause it'd suck if it were to timber on your rug.Neat-o idea, though. Jon
Sonthert
They were selling Backgammon tables that worked like a hookah, you stuck your head under there, screwed a jar of water in over there, plugged a hose in the side and then smoked and played backgammon! jmexx
Yeah I've seen chess tables like that, too. 500$ ish? And it must be REALLY difficult to clean. I'd buy one if it were cheaper, though.Want to start making hookahs, tang? :)Jon
NERV
i've seen em they are very nice, itihnk about $300 at the store here, but they have a few design flaws, 1 the bowl is actually directly under the base so the heat eminating from the coal will heat the base, wont get cool smoke, 2 as jmexx said the piping would be difficult if not impossible to clean, maybe drain-o or a roto-rooter, 3 i dont think the one i saw had any kind of blow off valve

I wanted to make hookahs first and somebody (The owners of Fumari) convinced me to make tobacco instead. I'd still like to, hoses especially, good hoses.I already make the heads...one piece at a time.

Im a pretty experianced wood worker, and I think I could pull it off when I have a little time.I would make the leg section that housed the hose dado'd for the area that the hose occupied, and flush on four sides, hinged to the inside of the leg so that it could swing out and the hose could be removed for cleaning.Blow off valve? Haha.. I've never heard a purge valve called that. In case you didnt know a blow off valve(BOV) is commonly used to refer to the oriface that expells spent gasses from the wastegate of a turbo charger. zzzzzT
Hey Tangiers I think you should make a line of hookahs. Hoses would be especially nice. You could contract a company to make them like was done with the Stargate. Who constitutes a good hookah and hose to you?
Sonthert
Leather, fat, long, large bores (3/8" is about right) on the stem and head pieces, attractive acrylic head pieces, all detachable for easy cleaning and maximum hose life, like leather hoses are supposed to be. Fortunately, I live 20 miles from Mexico!
