srawas89
Hey guys I need help from you all. In about a month and a half me and the Middle Eastern Club that I have helped start at Xavier University are hosting a hookah night since we have just recently convinced the administration to lift the ban on hookahs. I need help in how to make this operation flow smoothly as it is kind of like a hookah but only for one night. I need to know what flavors are very popular and that most people will choose as we are providing about 13-19 hookahs and the tobacco and coals to go along with it. We will be using only AF tobacco since Nakhla can be too overpowering especially for the hookah newbies. Also for those who own a hookah bar how do you guys operate in cleaning, taking orders, topping people off with charcoal packing etc. We are expecting this event to be extremely busy so I am trying to find a way to make the service fluid and decently efficient as we will probably be packing most of the bowls our selves. Chiefin
I know nothing about managing large numbers of hookahs so I have nothing to offer there. I would perhaps have a ton of AF Mint on hand as a mixer.Seriously, congrats on getting Xavier to lift the ban - quite a feat.

srawas89
I dont know about the special hookah for tangiers but yea we probably need some help and if you dont go to xaiver thats cool I dont think we are going to try and limit the attendance but I am not for certain. And its gonna be on the greenspace at Xavier. Its the big space when you see if you head past the cintas center before actually entering Xavier
rockaholic
well I really can't help you on the mass amounts of people, but as long as you have somebody who is knowledgeable enough at each hookah, I think you'll do pretty damn well.as for the flavors I know that mint can be a really big hit with noobs. It was with me anyway.but leave some new flavors on the side in case they want a change of pace? Good luck man, you'll do fine!

That should keep people happy for the most part and doesn't make your purchase list to big. As for the actual operations of the evening you shouldn't be in too deep with only 20 hookahs rolling, just make sure before you start the evening they are all clean and have fresh water in them. As the nite progresses and you switch out flavors just rinse the hookah out and refill with new water in between each bowl. As for coals make sure you have someone dedicated to taking care of just that, and have them make rounds every few minutes to place coals on new bowls as well as bowls that need another round. Orders/bowl packing should be fairly straightforward, have someone take the order and write it down and give a copy to the bowl packer who basically just takes care of the bowls/cleaning hookahs in between. So overall I would plan on 5-7 people just to make sure your not spreading yourself to thin but your evening could be done with as little as 3 people if need be. Never smoked Nakhla, but if it's something along the line of Tangiers, i know what you mean about 'scaring off the noobies'. I enjoy it, but i know many wouldnt. I primarily smoke Romman's, and it works pretty well.Might be too late as this message is 20 days old, but i'd reccomend natural coals and a small burner. 15-20 hookahs = lots of coals, and just heating them up is easy. Although the Golden Coals work nicely for self lighting coals. The only thing that would suck with that many hookahs is loading each bowl, and preparing it. I'd make a puncher for the foil, just to be able to do it fast. I made one over the summer but i lost it .Any who, awesome to know theres some hookahers on campus. You'll find me out on the greenspace auditorium soon once i get my hookah from home .
