where i smoke

Recommended Posts

hey everybody!
let me properly introduce myself... my name is andrew and im 18 years of age.
i have known about hookahs for a while, having my first experience in july 2005. i just turned 18 in december and was finally able to purchase one ( a little 17" hookah that i bought in a middle eastern grocery store... it smokes just fine, but i dont have much to compare it with ).
anyway, because i still live with my parents, and they arent too fond of the idea of me smoking (yes, they know aobut my hookah.... i told them about it around 2 weeks after i bought it), i cant smoke in my house and must find an alternative location. this place of ample pleasure is temporarily the back of my Ford Explorer (with the back seats folded down) which 3 people can lounge comfortably.
just yesterday, i bought a little oriental rug and some cushions (about $20 all togther) for the back of my car. im pretty proud of my "abode-for-the-boss" and wanted to show it off...

it'll do untill i go to college.

I understand from Arabic friends that some rich guys drive around with hookahs lit, how they prevent the coals from rolling, I don't know. Sounds like about as good an idea as putting a phonograph in.I've smoked in the back of my pick-up, its cool, sitting under the stars of the desert, looking up at the stars, I feel ya, bro. Peace.

I completely understand! I'm 19 and I have the same problems with the rents, the only difference being I have a designated place to smoke in my house, with the proper precautions. That's a really great idea, though! You should send that idea to Pimp My Ride :-P. I'd do it but I drive a Jetta, meh. I've always dreamt of having one built in the car so I can smoke it whenever I want (not while driving, of course!) Go to car shows and meets and have the hookah ready to go! Maybe If I get off my lazy ass and expirement with vynil tubing rather then their regular copper/stainless steal mumbo jumbo.Good day!Jon

Luckily, I don't have to worry about my parents. They think that my
hookah is an incense burner. As for the hookahs inside cars, i made one
for my old car, and I heard somewhere that luxury cars sold in the
middle east can have factory installed hookahs of some sort.

Yes, the bowl with a lid cover would keep the coals inside, but they
would still be rolling around the bowl un-kept while the person is
driving...Maybe you could throw one coal in there, and just let it roll
around? Probably get the sh*ttiest, uneven burn of your life..

Two buddies of mine from school were driving back to school from L.A.
where they live, and encountered a massive accident on I5, where a semi
truck rolled over and was blocking the road. They were in traffic for a
solid 4 hours at a stand still. What else is there to do but set up the
hookah in the car?

This situation is a little different though. Yes they were smoking inside, but the car wasn't moving..

Man. That would be freaking sweet to rig up a mini-hookah inside your
car that could somehow roll with the bumps. Similar to how you can hold
a hot cup of coffee without spilling it in your car while driving.
Gotta drive with the windows down ofcourse ;)

the mini hookah in my old car wasnt a problem i had a sleeve that that
fit snugly on the bowl and sinc emy bowl was deep and like a perfect
fit for the coal you just put in a little less tobacco and push the
foil in slightly so the coal is in place, and i made the base from
acrylic and had seperators in it to reduce splashing and shifitng of the water

I bet if you could rig a charcoal heater like is sold on some websites
or a hotplate into the car that could heat the tobacco then you maybe
could get a nice smoke. An electric heater that would fig snug on the
bowl would maybe solve coal problems while driving.

I know if you got pulled over the hookah would just look bad to a cop.
I am friends with some cops and when they see a hookah they think drugs
until they become familiar with it. I hope that as the hookah finds
it's way into mainstream culture that this notion fades.

I have to drive quite a bit and really enjoy smoking a cigar on those long drives.

Until then check with Bentley for this option

OR you can smoke when stationary :P. I mean who needs to DRIVE and smoke anyways? It's supposed to be a relaxing pleasure, not a horror story.I think that all it would need is a steady, secure base or to be mounted properly some where in the center console or something, or have the head in the center console with piping leading to the vase elsewhere and a decent wind cover just in case. I wouldn't see myself needing to have a session while driving, that's a LITTLE ridiculous for me! ha.Jon

Well, I know that if the rare occasion of smoking in my care were to
EVER come up (not likely...), I wouldn't be setting up the hookah just
so I can drive to the grocery store and smoke... It would be for long
roadtrips.

I drove down from North Cali down to LA for the new years to visit with
a friend, and I smoked a cigar on the trip down, and two on the trip
up, and you better believe that I was wishing I could smoke the hookah
instead, but what are you going to do ;)

But yeah, I don't think ANYONE needs to smoke so badly, that they would
set up a hookah in their car just for running errands around town Roadtrips would be nice though.

I'm using this one, and I suppose it wouldn't be a problem to use it in your car..."hardcore" (Tangiers knows him I think ) from the german shisha-forum has put a shisha in his drink holder

Haha, that's hilarious. Do you get the same problem with regular chinese bowls having the grommets being too loose? I hate when after a good 30-45 minutes of a session the head starts to wobble about. That would suck if it were to happen in the car :PJon

Yeah that often happens to me when the tobacco is too wet, alle the glycerine stuff flowing off the head... But I think you could prevent the glycerine from flowing off by adding a small sieve, like the ones that are used for bongs, to the head!?

Apparently, it causes lots of accidents, too. charcoal mishaps...eww. I just had an idea.Ive seen charcoal rings. Lock it down to the bowl with some sort of attachment and then, in the center, have a X in the center, so it would look like a circle with an X, just much taller (like about two inches), locked with some Mason Jar like metal attachment. You could put one charcoal in each of the four chambers created by the X in the circle.Huh? Huh?
