willbb123
I've basically taken over as the Lighting Designer at the theater that I work at. We get a lot of smaller bands and some bigger shows such as Lorie Line and Randy Newman. The problem with a lot of the groups that come is that all there music is slow and they don't want any changes during the songs. (We were told not to change during songs for Lorie Line because she got distracted easily) This makes my job very boring... I sit up here in the booth on my laptop during most songs waiting for the song to end so I can cange the look. Tonight we have a christian rock guy. I'm not a fan of christain rock so I wasn't too excited for the show. But once sound check started I realized that he played fast pased music that I could have alot of fun lighting. I then go talk to his tour manager and ask what they want me to do for lighting, the guy says you can basically leave the same look up all the time. So I was all excited and focused 4 lights for this guy to make it look cool and they dont want anything special.... So I guess I'll be sleeping in the booth for another show... I wish I could figure out a way to get my hookah up here, cause that would be awesome!
Jeff_T
A lot of very tight hardcore bands are christian fyi... just because they say they're christian doesn't mean anything. Biggest 2 I think would be Thrice and Norma Jean off the top of my head.
Codename067
Meh, what can you do man, I get that sometimes here at my uncle's jewelry repair shop. we suggest something GOOD for the customers and they turn us down most of the time. Some people just dont have any standards. Screw em all. Keep pimpin with the lights.

There are also a lot of Christian Hip-Hop groups.

willbb123
So Im gonna jack my own thread....I ended up not really listening to the guy and started doing some stuff, and he said that he liked how it looked and that I should do more!So I was leaving tonight and I knew that there was no one in the house (seating area) and no-one was on the stage. I climb a ladder about 6 feet tall to go and unplug the stroller (color changing lights) power supply. I turn around after unplugging it to see the lights on the flyrail level (on the other side of the stage and about 10 feet from the deck) turn off. The only switch for these lights are on the rail. It really freaked me out... I can not think of why those light would go out. There is also no lights aimed over there so it had to of been those lights...btw here are two pics from the showI did more as the night went on. I didn't take pics cause I couldnt hold the camera still enough, and I forgot about it....

"Define the great line" is a great album and I love it now, but it took some getting used to for me. I didn't care for the 1st album at all though. Yeah, their original stuff is not for the same crowd, but i'm into it. Its funny though if you listen to their progression over the years, very diverse. Also forgot one of my fav bands, August Burns Red....
Tom1
Just because a band's members are christian doesn't really make them a "christian band". If they aren't singing about god they're just a band, with people in it, that believe in X. All That Remains isn't classified as christian but some of their songs could be interpreted as being about god. As for the lighting, you should just do the lights how you want rather than asking. Well that is sorta true. If they are on a Christian label then that would make them a Christian band wouldnt it? After all I doubt that a Christian label would sign a secular artist.
