Has Anyone Tried Af's Charcoals?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I'm really interested in buying them but haven't seen any reviews for them here.. Do they come in bulk sizes? or are they already in small pieces? Edited by modisess

they're pretty good. When they first came out the bag was filled with same pieces, but now they are big lumps, which I like because I can break the coals to the sizes I want. The burn clean and have no smell. The con is sometimes there is a piece that has sap in it.

I got a free bag of em in an order and... how the hell are we supposed to use em. They come in huge chunks, literally the size of a big fist. Its so inadequate to break them since the pieces are so big and your hands get very dirty.

thats how natural coals are.

They are great naturals. Lemon wood coals are known for its clean burn and no taste. Ive tried them, excellent charcoal. Only problem with them, just like every natural coal, the ash.

I used a chisel and hammer to chop mine up into useable chunks. You have to put them on a stover, use a torch, or have a fire going to start them just like finger coals. They will take a long time to light and you'll have to keep flipping them and puffing to keep them from going out.
