yashman19
Mostly anything slow, chill and relaxing. Sometimes when I get a group of people in my room, things get a little up-beat and requests for typical dance/party music come out, but for the most part, anything slow. I love all different kinds of music, I'm not tied down to just one, so this makes finding good music a lot easier when I have such a vast selection to choose from. I like classic rock alot, ragae, hip hop, underground, and much more, but I can't quite find that many country songs that I like, except one... Even if you don't like country, give this song a shot, and you'll laugh your ass off.. You'll laugh even more if you watch the music video Honky Tonk, Badunkadunk by Trace Atkins

Brad
Honky Tonk, Badunkadunk by Trace Atkins
That song is SO rediculous We either listen to some hip hop...Common, The Roots, Kanye West ...OR! Classical always seems to go well with the hookah too. Can't get any better than Chopin.
Stew
I haven't posted here FOREVER! but this is one topic I couldn't stay away from. I voted other because I couldn't click more than one choice. I've got an arabic/lounge/indian mix I use, Cake(comfort eagle), Michael Jackson(Essentials), even used Disturbed and other such heavy type musics. Basically any good music works for my tastes. PipeSmokeMcGee
I think music is crucial in the smoking. I like to mix it up, but I always try to keep it relaxing. I found that the two disc set "Europe 72" by the Grateful Dead is very good. It is very dynamic and has some energetic songs, yet all are quite relaxing. Two other good artists for the hookah are Pat Metheny (progressive jazz) and Bruce Hornsby (Harbour Lights is a good CD as are many of his live shows). I second ihartvarg. I have a CD called Celtic Odyssey: Dublin to Dakar that is music with a Celtic feel and undertone from all over the world. I think its put out by Putomayo World music, but its a great CD. It's odd that this thread has been posted just now: yesterday I started compiling a "Hookah Playlist" of about 24 hours that I can just put on shuffle on my computer. I'll post the list as soon as I'm done. Thanks for listening, BEN

jmexx
If I'm out smoking, then whatever the lounge plays (which is normally... well... lounge music.)When we smoke at my place or at my friends, we normally watch a movie to smoke. If we have hookah parties, any music's game! We're all open about music and we all like smoking the hookah so it really depends on our moods.Jon
Sonthert
I like techno, but for maximum, dirty hookah smoking, Big East-Coast Hip Hopo is the way to kick it. Beatnuts, Wu-Tang Clan, Onyx. Iced Cube is good too. Outkast and Ludacris or BG works. The hookah and the music drive the girls to sheer nudity.
yashman19
I love to smoke and listen to Kottonmouth Kings.
Smoking just regular, old fashioned ma'assel..right....? Do they even have a single song that doesn't involve smoking, uh..bad stuff? I've heard of them, and their style..
dizzing
regular, old fashioned ma'assel.. hahahi suppose that raises the question of what "regular" and "old fashioned" mean to a person regarding their shisha preparation like grandpa's old fashioned cough medicine

Attila
i mostly listen to arabic music (authentic like Oum Kalthoum or new stuff like Panjabi or Arash), downtempo (Thievery Corporation), dub (Asian Dub Foundation), some kinds of rap/hiphop (my cousin wanted Cypress Hill when we smoked and it turned out pretty well), or goa when smoking a hookah. what you absolutely should give a listen to: Dj Krush - nothing dj-istic, japanese music elements with instrumental hiphop, one of the most awesome tunes to chill out to Anima Sound System - a hungarian band, mostly dub with elements of hungarian, gypsy, jewish folk music elements (well, changes with every album, hard to describe) if you can stand electronica, then "infected mushroom - dancing with kadafi" is pretty cool as well... beautiful, little mind twisting, oriental feeling and if you don't mind a bit of growling (hehe): Orphaned Land! they are an israeli dark/doom metal band with a lot of oriental influences... they are awesome. Attila
another thought: any last.fm users out here? it would be nice to see other people's music interests. i started using the 'hookah music' tag but as it seems i'm the only one using it... my profile by the way.
