Dry Shisha

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!I guess you have a good suggestion for me...Here in Hungary shisha is quite expensive(like 5-6 bucks for a 50 gramm pack), there are only a few cheap places, but they sell 250 gramm packs only. The problem is that it will dry quickly, so I have to throw away a lot all the time. WHAT A WASTE! Any sugegstions? I already tried to put it in an air tight jar, but that didn't help a lot.I evern tried to keep it in the fridge, but that did't help either...Thanks,Mark

Szia Márk! :)
Thank you for your help!It seems I have this problem with Nakhla only.
I will try to add some honey, glycerine sounds bad... Some Nakhla flavours(apricot!) has quite a chemical taste anyway, that would make it even worse.
If you try to adding honey try very liquid honey so it won't adhere the tobacco.

lol don't add any honey to your ma'assel You must add Glycerin to keep it wet, otherwise it will stop smoking and will taste like sh*t Many people don't know that ma'assel is wet because of the glycerine & molasses that make it actually smoke!! Without glycerine your ma'assel wouldn't smoke at all ;-)The honey thing is just a tip for a better taste using aditional glycerine! You can mix some Glycerine with honey to make it taste better - about one or two teaspons of honey for 100ml of glycerine should be good. But now to the glycerine thing:Hungary is a member of the EU, so I guess that you also the 5% restriction, that restricts ma'assel to about 5% of glycerine & molasses, which results in a very dry, nearly unsmokeable tobacco. So you can either buy "illegal" imported, dry tobacco, or you mix the 5%-tobacco with glycerine, which sounds bad, but it actually isn't so bad, because glycerine is a basic ingredient of ma'assel! So I suggest you buy some glycerine (about 100ml, it's cheap) at an apothecary , mix it with 2 teaspoons of honey, and put about 1 teaspoon of this mix on 50g of ma'assel. After that, you should put the tobacco into an air  tight container,  e.g.  an old jam-glass or something similiar for at least 6 hours before smokinggreetsTim

This is interesting because I have no problem with the Nakhla tobacco. It is smoke very well and didn't dry out. Just sometimes I get cough but not so offen. I usually buy 250g dose and I keep them In a air lock jar. Anyway how can I realised that my tobacco dried out? What is the minimum limit waht is not dry yet?

Well, then I suppose you don't have the "5%-nakhla" but the dry stuff To your other question:I would say if it is less wet than a fresh-bought Nakhla it's already a bit too dry,  (but it's still smokeable) because Nakhla is one of the driest ma'assels out there...Tangiers, Al Fakher etc. are much more wet than Nakhla!P.S: You could look for "Honey Mix" in your favourite hookah-store or the internet, that's a great honey-molasses-glycerine mix you can put directly on the tobacco right before smoking if it's a bit too dry ;-)greetsTim

I just typed in the website(www.honey-mix.com) and it appears to be a German-only product. They say an English langage page is "coming soon." Unfortunately, my German is no longer proficient. I guess if I look long enough I could decipher it. Maybe I'll pass that link over to some of our hookah shops here in the U.S. and see what they do with the info.

Hey TiMMey, where are you from in Germany?
