Giant Ninja Robot Posted September 14, 2008 Share Posted September 14, 2008 Well my wife hooked me on Harry Potter years ago, and I'm not ashamed of it.So I guess here we go again....I'm currently on book 3 of the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer - Addicting stuff, even if the writing is pretty simple. I read the first 2 books in 4 days last week and I plan to finish the last 2 by weeks end.GNR has officially joined the masses of teenage girls in the Jacob fanclub...damn you Edward you bastard! I loved you like a vampiric brother till you broke Bella's heart in book 2!!!!!!BTW the movie coming out this fall looks terrible Hope it's not. I don't know if I would have the time to with all the school work I've been having lately, but that's been on top of my to read list since the summer.I saw the movie Fahrenheit 451 in my Science Fiction class in high school (easily the best and most enjoyable class I ever took during high school). Never read the book though. Now I kinda want to Oh and just a little tidbit of information here: I just found in IMDB that they are remaking the old Fahrenheit 451. It was the general 'feel' of the last 3 books that I didn't like... they felt forced. I think that after his accident, King realized that he very well might not live long enough to finish his magnum opus, so he decided to write the last three instead of letting them write themselves. I really didn't like how he injected himself into the story, it ruined the immersion of it for me- but I did like the injection of Father Callahan and Ted Brattigan (sp?). Song of Susannah was a 500 page wank session (by which I mean that nothing fucking happened, not that it was erotically stimulating that was book 3, when I was 13 years old reading about Susannah being raped by a demon), though I really loved to hate Cal Tower and all the parts involving him managed to engage me because of that. King's Maine vernacular is incredible, I can't recall the name of the caretaker dude right now (even though I've read or listened to the series 6 times) but all of his dialogue is a pleasure to read (especially after reading Welsh's attempts at a Floridian accent in If You Liked School....
