It's kinda a crappy picture, but its a "brushed" 14k white gold ring with small diamonds set into the band (with matching wedding band included" with a .37 carat SI2 G diamond. (Yeah, I know all about them now).

My gf and I went to the jewlery store today fully intending to browse around and get a feeling for the price range, as well as her style.

Well, the worker brought out this ring, and she fell in love with it. So, we got it.

I know what you're thinking, "She was with you when you got it?" Yes, yes she was. She picked it out. But she doesn't know when she's getting it. So there.

Make it something she'll remember, or she'll point it out every time a friend recieves a better proposal

We had a friend propose to his now wife by setting up balloons all over their house in a pathway leading from the kitchen, up the stairs, and to the bedroom. The balloons were each filled with a fancily written note with a reason he loves her on it. The balloon at the bed, which was covered with roses, had a proposal note in it and he got down on one knee and brought out the ring and asked aloud "Will you marry me?" They then preceded to have intense engagement sex...okay so I made the last part up since she's hot as hell and it's not that hard to imagine...

Feel free to steal it if you want, I think it's romantic and memorable without being too over the top.

Last summer, my gf picked out the ring and I bought it at a later date...a weekend she hinted she wanted it. I told her that I had been called in to cover a morning dishwasher shift when really I was trying to get credit .
I proposed to her on video at the bottom of a crazy slide at the Punxsutawney fair.

I say go to a concert or maybe a fair...otherwise you could be really classy, take her out to dinner and do it in the champagne.

while i'm no longer engaged.. (problems with her being a lying whore) here is how i did it...


i figured up a scavenger hunt for her... it took about two hours on the day after she graduated college... each step of the way she had to figure out a riddle for the next location, and every location involved something she liked doing and some kind of test she had to pass to the next clue/item. each item she picked up was used for the following location. her second to last location she got her bathing suit and her clue led her to the rec center where she was a lifeguard/personal trainer. i paid a janitor 20 bucks to keep it open for her and and i after hours. she had to go to the rec, put on her bathing suit, and hunt for the clue. she found a floating device out in the middle of the diving pool. when she dove out to get it i dove in after her (she didnt even know i was there) and at the bottom of the floating device was her ringbox with the ring. i proposed in the middle of the pool after hours with our favorite song playing

Set things up with a cop on patrol. Get him to put you over and do the normal reg exchange and stuff. Have the cop go to the other side and let him pull out the box, open it and reveal the ring. Then when the girl in the passenger seat is like wtf, you bust out the question

....that's the EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME... 4 YEARS AGO!

Way i did it was bought a book of poems, found her favorite, book marked it. Glued then next 30 pages on both sided with a glue stick, busted out the exacto knife and carved it out so when she opened to the bookmark... ring staring right at her above a love poem....make fun if you want... she still has the book. Married over 3 years now.
