leadpipecinch21 Posted August 20, 2008 Share Posted August 20, 2008 so, a guy i met through another internet forum came in to the states for a couple months after serving in the israeli navy....anyways he's an avid hookah smoker, and knew i was too, so in exchange for letting him stay at my place for a couple days he brought me over close to a kilo of different flavored shisha from this shop that's right by his parent's house in israel. i'm sitting here smoking some lemon/mint blend, and oh my god, i don't know how i'll ever go back to smoking the shisha we've got stateside...this stuff is absolutely incredible.the past couple days we've been smoking bowls pretty much constantly, and with just a standard tangiers head(non phunnel) this stuff has been smoking incredibly for 2-3 hours no problem with no loss of flavor, no loss of smoke volume or density...god this stuff is awesome.he brought me some of the lemon mint blend, some orange(which is the best orange i've ever tasted), raspberry(which tastes like i'm eating raspberries...it's awesome), and some lime, which i've never seen any other lime shisha, but it's also awesome.i think he's going to have to ship me some more when het gets back in a couple months.anyways, yeah...nothing really special here...just needed to share.but yeah...anybody else have some stories of great shisha from small shops like that? I dont know whats it called in english but when you pick something up like from a big jar and then choose how much you want and then pay for it, thats how the owner bought it, haha that sounded so stupid xD Anyway, i dont remember where the owner said that he got the shisha but i have some pictures of it. It tasted like roses and smelled like heaven, it was a REALLY NICE break from the old nakhla we have here (nothing against nakhla, i love it). One of his lebanese friends brought some shisha from Lebanon, said it was pretty expensive over there (only 12€/kilo, actually). It was also lemon/mint and it was freaking delicious! I live in the Holy Land and Nakhla from Egypt ,Al Waha and more Jordanian shisha is sold locally ecerywhere there are ciggies sold. It sounds though that what he brought you was specially made. There is a good hookah store in the West side of Jerusalem on King George street called "Siam" that makes 12 flavours. It has a lot of glycerine and or honey in it. I have smoked some of it like the Passion Fruit which smells like a locker room after the game, but tastes great. I had watermelon also mint and strawberry-banna.The price is not as cheap as once was, like $1 for a pack of Nakhla,Al-Sultan or Al-Waha but buying at "Siam" 10 packs is much lower.There is a great store open 24/7 in the Galilee near Akko by the Med. Sea in an Arab village which is both Christian and Moslem Kfar Yassif "Village of Josef". The owner is not Moslem nor Christian, but he's Druze on Sunday he has a Jew selling outside so not to offend the Christians.They have the best selection in Israel. Anyone else who has Jewish roots (or any other mideast roots for that matter) feel an inexplicable draw to that region? Since transitioning into adulthood I've just felt drawn to that region and I've never been there and don't quite understand why...Tobacco sounds great BTW. Anyway the tobacco does sound good and I cant wait to go to Lebanon this winter and party it up on New years Eve. freezerburn456 Posted August 24, 2008 Share Posted August 24, 2008 one of the guys that worked with me at a hookah bar made his own home made mint. it was the most amazing mint that I have ever tasted. it smoked like a dream, and was able to completely clean out my nose when it was stopped up. cotsi95 Posted August 24, 2008 Share Posted August 24, 2008 So i got some mint and a few other mixes from Saudi Arabia this thurs from a friend that came back from visiting his family there. AMAZING ive had this mint before but that was almost 2 years ago, ive been begging people to bring it back for me ever since but to no avail. But now i have some and its AMAZING! It takes soo much heat and burns soo slow, but give sooo much smoke! The other mixes taste like a pineapple gummy lifesaver. The other mix tastes like a tropical punch gummy lifesaver.
