GreatPigHookah
Had my second bowl of Tangiers Kashmir Peach last night. It was freaking wonderful. I may have a new favorite flavour. My first bowl wasn't packed enough (not enough tobacco), the smoke was good but not great, and the flavour was pretty good, no harshness, but I wasn't getting the full effect. Last night I packed the hell outta the small phunnel bowl. I dropped the tobacco in by hand and just sorta layed it in the bowl until it was right around 3/16" to 1/4" above the rim. It looked excessive to me, especially compared to how you normally pack a standard bowl. Like SILLY excessive. I cleared out the center of the phunnel, then used the foil to press the tobacco down to just below the rim, maybe 1/8" or so max. It took a little more force than I thought and I was worried that I had packed it too tight. I then stretched the foil out good so it wasn't depressed into the bowl, making a little space between the foil and the tobacco. I used larger than toothpick diameter holes all the way through the tobacco to the bottom of the bowl, maybe 35 holes or so(I didn't count) spaced out like normal, just a little larger diameter.I started 3 exoticas and used two on opposite sides of the bowl. It smoked beautifully! Awesome flavour and very good smoke. Nice thick clouds. Kashmir Peach is a thing of beauty, if you are into the floral, spicy, flavours. It's like biting into an intensely spiced, warm peach. I love it. I did find that I really had to use my windscreen to maintain the heat right - 3 coals are too many, as I discovered in my first attempt, and two aren't enough when my air conditioner kicks on in my house. (Funny how little things like that can have a big effect) I will say this, Tangiers packs a damn strong buzz. After about 40 minutes, I was spinning like a top and called it a night as it was getting late anyway. I'm gonna fire up that same bowl again tonight. On exoticas...they are both the devil and Jesus. I like the way they burn and ash...don't seem to need to be flipped so much like the coconara's because they don't "go out" on the bottom so fast. The ash flakes away nicely. However, they are fragile as hell. I've used them 3 times now, and I have had at least two per session crumble apart/break in half when I try to move them - doesn't happen with the coconaras. I'm wondering if they developed stress fractures in shipping and processing...getting bounced around throughout their life before they reached me? That may explain why some people have trouble with breakage and some apparently don't. I cut them with a band saw, so I didn't fracture them or stress them much on my own. I don't think they last quite as long as the coconaras either, but I haven't timed them, just my perception. I think I'll keep on using them both for now.Up next I have some Marigold and Raspberry. I'm stoked to try more Tangiers flavours now. Comments / Suggestions?
hookah_stud
I'm new to Tangiers also. I tried M Cherry the other night and it was pretty good. Probably won't reorder but definitely will be trying some other flavors. Peach sounds delicious. I do believe that will be on the next order. tlmasonaea
All of the Kashmir flavors are awesome, especially the K Cherry. You should also snag some Horchata and Static Starlight. I'm a big fan of the Blackthorn and the Lime as well.
mattathayde
ya i love my tangiers, lime is my fav but i havent gotten to really try a lot of them. i just do the fork in and push down method basically like that just no dropping in.as to to much/little heat i assume your using 1/4s right? try 1/3s or 1 1/3 and 1/4. also you could try 3 1/6s since its the same as the 2 1/4s but since there is a little more surface area on the sides it gives off a touch more heat congrats on your tangiers success, no to go wait at my door for 2 days till my lime and grape tangiers comes-matt

I've never had real Horchata, so I've got no guage as to what that flavour is like. Can anyone describe it?

Which seem pretty good overall. I was smoking where I got a strong occasional draft from the AC, so I think they would be fine otherwise. I really only had to cover them when the AC was on, so I'm guessing that made it a bit more labour intensive. Still, they appear to be less work than the coconaras I used tonight. I really had to work the coconaras to keep it right this evening. Not a big deal, as I still got a great session off the bowl for the second day in a row.hookahstud - thanks for the description. I may like that, as I am a cinnamon fan (the flavour in both food and shisha).
Tecnorobo
Tangiers is wonderful. I have a whole bunch of flavors I want to purchase.Kashmir peach and kashmir cherry. Marigold. Blue gumball. The list could go on. Of course, there's a number of af flavors i want to buy too. If only I was made of money.I've been smoking kashmir apple lately, and it's definitely great. It's pretty light on the apple, heavy on the kashmir but I love it. First time I tried it I more or less couldn't stand it. I enjoy it alot now. judgeposer
I just got a re-up from HC delivered today (thank goodness for FedEx ground deliveries on Saturday) of chololate mint, more regular K Cherry, K Apple, and mixed fruit summor soltice, which will be a new flavor for me.Pig...sounds like you packed it perfectly, just as I would tell anyone who asks 'How do you pack your Tangiers,' with the exception that I use a seafood fork. I'd recomend also spearmint and chocolate mint, two of my consistent favorites. These days, however, I usually burn a bowl of K Cherry/day. I think it's the least Kashmir-y of the K flavors, but so unique that I can't get enough.

Er...I mean, I'm glad you liked it. Marigold is kind of an acquired taste...good luck on that!Me and the wife tried Marigold last night. After acclimating it smelled exactly like I had taken a marigold flower and crushed it between my fingers. Really interesting. So I loaded up a bowl and got the coals started. I gotta say, you guys hit this one DEAD ON. It was increadable. It instantly became one of my favorites. My wife can't stop raving about it. I guess we just have weird tastes, but we both found it to be a complex delight. I think it's my wifes new favorite. Please don't stop making that one. I've actually eaten marigold in certain dishes (salads and the like), and this tobacco captured the essence of marigold so well it's uncanny. I also suggest pairing this smoke with a good Red Zinfandel, or maybe even a Shiraz or Merlot. We cracked open a homemade Red Zinfandel after about 30 minutes and it was a great combination. Anyway, thanks for a great, unique experience!
mattathayde
im really thinking about making a little device to assist in acclimation, for those of us in VA ordering from places like MNH it takes a very long time to acclimate so i have an idea for a thingy that will make it basically no work and speed it up... just gota build it18 hours of acclimation on some lime and 12 on some grape and they still need more, sad face, o well i wont smoke will later in the week any way with my class schedules-matt
Sherv
I adore Tangiers but I haven't tried Al Waha yet (at least not knowingly). Which online supplier has the best selection? There's a smoke shop near me (Leavitt & Pearce in Harvard Square) but they run out ridiculously quickly and it's been over 2 weeks and they STILL haven't re-ordered, despite my chiding. Thanks guys!edit: Oh yeah, I meant to add that my girlfriend got me a roll of Tangiers for Valentine's Day (Kashmir Apple) and that is by far my favorite smoke. It's musky and heavy and extremely unique. I can't do it justice with words...The one Tangiers flavor that I absolutely can't stand is Strawberry. I tried two different batches and they both tasted extremely stale and harsh Edited August 25, 2008 by Sherv
