al-bab
When i'm in Montreal, I usually like to stop at a hookah store called Nefertiti's. It is a really small "Egyptian souvenir store' that also happens to allow you to smoke / drink tea / watch Arabic T.V. Well i went in side and was greeted by Nefertiti himself wearing traditional white clothing. I was checking out the Hookahs when he very rudely said, "which one do you want." I responded that i wasn't ready to select yet. Literally 30 seconds later he again said, "which one do you want." I again responded that I needed more time to decide. He whistled and motioned at me to leave the front of the store (with the hookahs) and to go to the back of the store. Apparently he was finishing up a sale in the back and was afraid i was going to steal some of his merchandise. I literally waited 20 minutes in the back of the store before he motioned to me to go to the front of the store again. He obviously didn't expect me to understand Arabic, so he said to another worker there in Arabic "stupid American tourist." I didn't say anything. Halfway to the front of the store, before i could even see the hookahs, he once again, "which one do you want." By this point i'm so upset that i had waited so long and that the guy was being really rude not to mention what he said about me. Anyway, so i told him that if he will continue to be rude to me I can go spend my money elsewhere. He immediately started screaming at me that i should leave his store and went all crazy on me. I turned around and said to him "achusharmutah" which is a really harsh insult in Arabic. I caught him off guard that i was able to speak Arabic. But after a second he WENT CRAZY and chased me halfway down the street (he was barefoot) screaming Arabic curse words...needless to say i felt like i was back in Cairo. I’m just really pissed right now because he had the nicest hookahs i have ever seen...he must have gotten them directly from Egypt because they looked really authentic. Has anyone else had a smilar experience?
yashman19
No similar expereince here, but screw him... He obviously isn't in the market for making money, or else he wouldn't scare people away from his store by being a rude ass...Me personally, I would have left after the second time he asked me "what do you want to buy?" in a rude voice...even if I was anxious to buy a new hookah. Oh well..sorry to hear about your lousy experience...All I can say is never go back to that dirtbag, and I guess you gotta look for a new place... Good luck bro. al-bab
This guy Nefertiti has a reputation around Montreal for being out of his mind. Everyone that has gone to his store has been in some kind of conflict with him. I really wish i did get a few more words in though.
